Since 2013: LSU's average recruiting rank is #3.75 nationally to Alabama's #1

Accoring to 247 247 recruit rankings page
Now, before i'm crucified; I know Alabama has had about 100 straight #1 recruiting classes under Saban, and that they have more talent. They absolutely have more talent and depth than LSU at the moment, but that shouldn't be the case. They've somehow managed to keep guys who would go in the first round to stay in $chool for another year... How i$ thi$? There'll be a handful of posters who say "stars don't matter" well, I don't see many ranked P5 teams going out and signing 2 stars, so there's obviously a correlation to talent.
People talk about our lack of quality recruiting on the lines particularly...Looking at LSU's recent recruiting rankings:
2016 #2 nationally
In 2016, we signed 12 linemen. 10 of which were top 20 in the country at their position. The other 2 were top 100.
QB: Lindsey Scott was the GPOTY. We signed him. He transferred.
2015 #5 nationally
In 2015, we signed 7 linemen. All were top 52 at their position. This isn't counting the TE that were converted to OL
QB: Justin McMillan was the 35th ranked QB in the nation. He hasn't played a down (or not many at all)
2014 #2 nationally
In 2014, we signed 8 linemen. All were top 20 at their position.
QB: Brandon harris was the #3 rated QB in the nation.
2013 #6 nationally
In 2013, we signed 12 linemen. All were top 20 at their position.
QB: Hayden Rettig was #9 rated QB and Anthony Jennings was the #14. Both have transferred out.
That's a total of 39 linemen on both sides of the ball. In that same span of time, Alabama has signed 41 linemen .
Only 2 more lineman? Yet they have so much more depth than us? Why aren't their player$ declaring early? Why aren't their 5 star$ transferring for playing time?
It seems that they're just better at shoving under-the-table money to players and have them put off the NFL to stay longer. Depth shouldn't be an issue. Now, we've lost a lot of guys to the NFL and many transferred, but 2013 players would still be eligible today had they stayed. They've also converted a lot of big TEs to Lineman.
It has everything to do with Alabama dishing out new rides to cruits and somehow avoiding being investigated. NCAA needs to follow the $$$$

Can we take out the rankings of all the players that transferred and/or left the team and then compare?

wow. Just wow.
I'd like to see some hard numbers on how many Bama guys stay their senior year and where those guys are drafted. Seems to me like Bama loses as much as we do to the draft.
Assuming your $$$$ theory is true, you honestly think a guy is going to give up a year of NFL dollars ($500k mimiumum, but a hell of a lot more for high draft picks) just to get a few thousand dollars under the table to stay at Bama.
Are you dreaming??
If a guy stays, it's so he can improve his draft stock, not to pocket a few bucks.
And I highly question your contention that Bama is paying their players.

Best players + best coach = best team.
Best players + average to above average coach = not best team.
It's not just Bama's players, it's their players and Coach.
For some reason people use recruiting stats to tout Bama because they don't want to admit they have the best coach in the land. It's indisputable at this point.
In reality these players aren't that far apart. It's the coaching that is the difference.
They're beatable though. Everyone is beatable.

LSU has a lot of transfers including 5-stars Clifton Garrett from 2014, Tyron Johnson from 2015 and Saivion Smith from 2016. That's just the 5-stars, there was a lot more attrition among the 4's. In 2015 LSU had 2 5-stars total that signed, one left.

So you think it’s out of the question? I’m not talking about 1-2k here.... I’m talking about lots of money.
Wasn’t there an Alabama player quoted from a couple years ago as saying he was taking a pay-cut to go to the NFL? Their players all seem to be driving nice, new vehicles.
How does a college student, with no job afford a brand new top-of-the-line Dodge Charger? And that’s not to mention the set of 10k 22 inch rims all of them have...
An Alabama official was just forced to resign over steering playing to a firm in Atlanta. I’m sure that was some sort of money-funneling operation.
You sure have a lot of recent posts that seem to defend Alabama.

Not necessarily LSU. Pretty much any other team that has great recruiting and not Nick Saban.
They'll always be at a disadvantage when playing Bama.

Bama is more talented than LSU.
LSU is more talented than both Miss. St. and Troy.
It will be interesting to see the results of the JA experiment.

That would be a lot of work because you would have to do it for the other top ten teams. I imagine LSU would be ranked 8-10 when you include the players that are no longer at LSU.

I went to high school and played ball with a bunch of guys in saban's 2007 class, josh chapman, kerry murphy, patrick crump, etc.. not sure what their class ranking ended up being but it was outside the top ten i know. that next year Saban landed julio jones and star jackson and ended up with the number one class. Julio was a poor kid from foley alabama in high school but chapman and kerry and crump all swore and swear til this day that him and star jackson both showed up to Bama's campus with brand new rides. Julio had an escalade, and the seats were customized with his name in them and the works. Bama got them deep pockets

Bama is not paying players millions to stay in school.
The nfl pays way more than Alabama.

Do you really think those guys were all 5 stars?

Bama doesn't have payroll deductions

my posts usually deal with the unhealthy Bama obsession and over-the-top whining about cheating refs, paying players, insufficient suspensions, etc. that I see on this board.
Just go win the freaking game and stop all the juvenile bitching and moaning.
I'm a huge LSU fan but am absolutely NOT a homer. I can see things clearly. And I fully acknowledge that Bama has the most successful program in the country. Others may chalk it up to cheating refs or paying players, but I don't fall for that nonsense. It's solely due to their head coach.
All the belly-aching is bad enough, but FAR WORSE when we haven't beaten them in 6 years. Just stop this juvenile jibberish and go beat them on the field. Nothing would thrill me more - but the belly aching has to stop.

Obviously this doesnt take roster management into account.

Most of those are not linemen,

I would hypothesize that they do both. I'm pulling my tin foil hat out for this theory. It makes perfect sense!
