It’s doubly bad when you’re also lazy.
I had several friends fail their first time - some their second time. It came down to exactly what you said: they were lazy. They studied maybe 3-4 hours a day, spent way too much time on YouTube. Didn't take it seriously and had to take it again.

I partied my dick off in New Orleans, watched the entire series of The West Wing and started studying about 5 hours a day about two weeks before the exam

It's really not bad if you know how to study for the test.
I memorized the answers from the previous 5 or 6 tests for each section and it was a breeze.
Of the 9 sections I think 6 were nearly word for word copies of recent questions with just some name changes. The other 3 sections were different but memorizing the correct answers from the previous 3 or 4 years gave me enough to put together a passable answer.
Now if you don't know that, and your study plan is to know everything about every section then you're gonna have a tough time. Too much info to retain in a relatively short period of time.

All I did for the second test was old exams. Night and day difference walking out.

not true. if you are smart, apply yourself and study, you're 80-90% likely to pass.
if you aren't all of those, the chances are probably 10%.

A good friend of mines wife spent 7 years out of law school trying to make the whole legal profession work and it never panned out. She even moved To different cities in attempts to find a way in. He family has no firm contacts and daddy or uncle isn’t a lawyer so she took what she could get. This girl finished in the top 20 of her law school class at LSU and is now, not working in the legal field.
She told me that her mom told her the same thing as all the stats say and to not go into law school because she didn’t have an easy way into a legal job and there are way way too many lawyers out there.
She said she is pissed she spent all that time in school to only not end up doing anything with her JD.

your friend must suck at life then. Sounds like an excuse for a shitty personality.

It doesn't sound like she really finished in the top 20 of her class, there were plenty of jobs for people in the top 20 coming out of school even during the recession years

Let's be honest, Top 20% at LSU isn't going to open any doors for you.

only grads from each year will know how the pass rate is by race, by word of mouth. Those rates will never be posted or verified but you would not be surprised by the results.

I knew the Chief judge of the La 2nd Circuit court of appeal in Shreveport. In the 70s-80s he was lucky to get law clerks who graduated in the top 25%. In the 90's and after he would routinely hire law clerks in the top 10%. Too many law school grads and not enough jobs.
If you go to law school you better think about the possibility of getting out of school with student loans and no job prospects. Its either hang a shingle and do what you can to get clients or find another profession.

I'd hate to be the one slapdick from LSU that was the only guy that took the bar again and still failed.
Time for him or her to find someplace in the market for a new bartender.

Because I didn’t take it in July and don’t take it until February.
Good luck!
The poster I'm referencing did not go to LSU for law school.
However, the poster Cecil D Diesel did pass.

Your good friend’s wife is probably a miserable person.

Not New Orleans, every watering hole here has at least one licensed attorney slinging drinks.

That’s good to hear. That dude ghosts me every time I ask if he wants to go to pluckers

Frank abagnale passed the Louisiana bar by studying for 2 weeks

Text me.
We can go soon, I've been out of town a good bit. Last time I saw you was at Zippy's while I was with my study group.

That bar was miserable. Glad I only took it once. To all my baws that didn’t pass, keep your head up. The legal profession could use some more paralegals....suckas.
