He was asked if the players could sing the alma mater with the students after games? He said he’s working with the marketing department since we don’t have basketball traditions like football. What would you suggest? And, what would you want them to bring back? I always wanted to see the deaf dome meter again. Also, students dress up.

We could start with a winning tradition.

Reconfigure the seating and move the students where they were 05-09

Have them come up with some shite to yell during the game so it doesn't sound like an empty gym in the 1st half.

Newspapers during opponents starting lineup. Make our inroductions short and simple. Get rid of that long, boring intro video they have now that complete kills any buzz thats in the pmac. Gold jerseys more often.

Every home game should be like Halloween for the students.

After wins, the team should be prepared to throw them some candy.

the marketing department needs to watch other major college basketball games to get an idea of what needs to happen during games. I would really like to help them out with this because it's absolutely brutal.

perfect example:

early in the game Tuesday night, we went on a mini run and caused Avery Johnson to call a timeout. the fans started to stand and yell/clap.

at that moment, let DJ C-mix crank up a song to get people going (he's got a bunch of them). but what did LSU do? they made everyone be quiet for a fricking bird box challenge. they are totally fricking clueless when it comes to the gameday atmosphere.

I went to all the games as a kid:

1) newspapers during opposing team intro then throw then ball them up and toss them on the court.

2) deaf dome meter - may be depressing now though

3) Mike the tiger dropping from the rafters.

A pregame highlight reel dating back to Petit and maravich through current players would be awesome.

Newspapers for sure. I like the Alma mater after the game idea. Like someone else said, learn how to run a game atmosphere. Don't have people quiet down to hear a list of sponsors when the other team calls a timeout to stop a run. Do they still do free tacos for 80 points?

Ditch the white uniforms and wear gold uniforms for every home game.

I was a freshman fall of 2007. I went for a few reasons, but the free Canes with a Tiger victory was a nice motivation factor. Also, the court side student section with newspapers was fun. The swag giveaways that added up with more games attended was nice too. I think I still have a Nike LSU duffel from that. My dad was a student back in ‘80-‘82 and always talked about how electric the PMAC was. Never really experienced it like he described it, but I always hoped I could. Hope Wade can work with the marketing bozos and get something solid implemented.

Step 1: win baby win

The rest of the traditions will follow. Winning is the best tradition a school could have. It’s cooler than anything else they could come up with. IMO.

Now that I’ve stated the obvious, LSU basketball needs the billboards, news coverage, the full 9 yards that football gets. I know BR is a FB town, but if LSU basketball is winning and is being thrown in everyone’s faces, it will eventually stick. Get the PMAC full and loud.

we don’t have any real basketball traditions. We have had some antics that have persisted through successful periods but no real tradition.

With that said, we have the absolute best football traditions and it’s so cool when we incorporate them in to basketball. Without sustained success, anything a marketing team comes up with will be short lived.

Put the student section back on the sideline instead of behind one of the backboards. I remember having to get to the stadium 3-4 hours before a game to make sure you had a seat in the lower bowl.

Deaf Dome meter. Fans in the seats. Student section full every game. Start there.
