I thought some factory working 20 year old redneck told everyone he won the lottery.

This was posted in the thread the night of that drawing, that it was some young kid auto mechanic who went in the next day crowing to his coworkers that he had won the lottery.

I'm pretty sure that wasn't true.

the state will still collect a portion — though much less — as the entire pot will be divided among all states participating in the Mega Millions contest, based on each state’s percentage of total sales

Hmmm, did not know this. Maybe it’s all a scam, there is no winner, just con to funnel an additional $1.5b to the government

Well yeah, that's pretty much what the lottery is, winner or no-winner.

Your average lotto winner spends his entire paycheck on tickets and booze and believes a million dollars would be literally endless. Then they go broke fast

I think I'd buy 100 tickets a week with sequential numbers just to piss everyone off.

True, but you won't find many lottery players among them.

i am convinced more than ever now that the powerball said that someone won it but really no one won it so they dont have to pay out

I'd imagine these things are highly regulated so the Powerball can't make that illegal decision all willy nilly.

Why is that funny? There are scores of tragic stories surrounding lottery winners.

but consider how many private dicks are about to be hired to comb the area around where the ticket was bought and dig up everything they can find in hopes of turning over the ticket.

There are people who have scammed the lottery before from the inside, but no one is dumb enough to do it on such large jackpots.

Also, similar to the lottery but not the lottery, the McDonald's monopoly promotion was compromised by the very person entrusted to protect winning pieces. The guy was giving his friends winning cash prizes and getting kick backs in return.

In 2019 with all this technology it makes you wonder. They know exactly where this ticket was produced and at the very exact moment it was printed. Yet cannot find a winner. Not saying it's a conspiracy but maybe it's still run this way in the off chance that the winner was a drunk or idiot that washed the ticket in their pants later that night.
