Based on your comment, all taxation is taking what others earn or possess.
So, what is NotoriousFSU’s threshold for taxation and theft?

Yeah, these polls are intended to shape and influence opinions, not measure them accurately. A pollster can get any result they want.

Taxation is theft/coercion. Our government is only intended to be valid by the “consent of the governed”. But the moment you stop consenting, you have the right to opt out. Unfortunately, those tyrants that caused you to want to opt out won’t let you opt out. They will send their standing army of redcoats to cage/kill you.
That is why the Founders wrote the 2nd Amendment in attempt to limit the power of the tyrants. But you indoctrinated “thin blue line” bootlickers would rather say “thank you for your service” instead of defending your liberty.

Well actually you or anybody else that believes this shite would stopwith the "1%" is a moron. WHatever the "1%" has will nowhere near pay for all the shite the leftists say it will.
This is nothing but nose under the tent shite to open up taxing what people have already been taxed on.
Of course, corporate taxes already do that.

You’re incorrigible. Did you not get enough attention at the Thanksgiving table yesterday? Enjoy the Noles win over ranked Tennessee tonight.

Just a thought.

Dawgfan hides his views big time because when he tries to discuss policy, he looks ridiculous.

That problem was caused by the abandonment of the Bretton Woods monetary management system - not the lack of a wealth tax.

I don't know about the rest of you billionaires, but I don't keep my wealth in my mattress.
So....if I have to pull out 750M to cover my "wealth tax", I now owe capital gains on that money. 20% of 750M is another 150M I also owe capital gains on. Screw it. I'll just sell $1Billion of Apple stock and throw the change in the old dog bowl.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I can't do this but for another 20-30 years.

Taking someone's wealth that has already been taxed is disgusting. My logic is clean.

Warren’s wealth tax is constitutional under the standards laid down by the Founders, as this article will demonstrate.
I stopped here...I'm sure there are just as many articles demonstrating the opposite is also true.

I believe firmly that I am not wrong, and posting an op-Ed from 2 lawyers at UT is not sufficient to change that opinion.
And just in case you skipped the actual writing and jumped right to the conclusion, let me summarize what your link actually says. The two lawyers’ entire argument is that, although the constitution says that a wealth tax is illegal, a wealth tax is not actually illegal because that’s not what the founders meant.
Their argument is simply that a subset of founders did not intend the apportionment clause to limit the extent to which wealth was taxed, and so wealth should be allowed to be taxed. But that’s an EXTREMELY dubious precedent to establish. If we were to go that route, then we could equivalently argue that, because a subset of the founders intended for the “freedom of religion” portion of the first amendment to only apply to Christian religions, that we could omit all other religions from first amendment protections.
CLEARLY, using a minority opinion to reinterpret the direct wording of the constitution puts us on perilous grounds. And if you are in fact going to challenge those grounds, I don’t think collecting taxes is the appropriate hill to die on.
If we want a wealth tax, the only reasonable approach to take is a constitutional convention. Anyone telling you that a wealth tax will be approved by the Supreme Court without a constitutional amendment is telling you a bold-faced lie.

It was caused by several factors, of which that's one, and of which I identified several in the post. The lack of a wealth tax is indeed not the issue.
My problem is people chalking up the resentment that the wealth tax represents to people being lazy and greedy. The average American worker has been getting shafted for decades, as the graph shows. A wealth tax is just an uneducated attempt to correct a real problem... but that doesn't mean those people deserve the sorry state they're in, just because their solution to fix it is dumb.
Like an earlier poster said, the right thing to do is figure out why people feel like such a bad idea is a good idea, then fix the real underlying problems. Lazy answers like "they're greedy" won't cut it. The average American didn't suddenly become some lazy shithead looking for a handout, as comforting an answer that might be to people who aren't suffering as hard from the adverse effects of our horribly mismanaged, deeply sick society. They've been getting squeezed into a desperate position by crooked elites who are making global historical record levels of profit. The wealth tax is a desperate, dumb attempt to solve a real problem.

What are they? Be specific
Also please explain how if these supposed tax advantages are so great, how do they still end up paying literally half of all income tax revenue.

the 40% don’t pay any income tax, and the other 59% have a relatively larger portion of they money taken out of every paycheck
Check a tax bracket chart then let us know how someone making 50k a year has a higher proportion of taxes taken out of their paycheck than someone making 5 million a year

You’re either a public sector employee or a dumb arse. If you’re a public sector employee, you may not have saved wealth, but you have a high promised pension... So you don’t give a frick about a wealth tax because you continue to suck the government tit, paid for...
... By the private sector middle class worker that won’t get a pension but is expected to pay for retirement out of their 401k... which Is wealth that was responsibly and persistently saved over years and years and years...
... Until dumb arse is apparently like you come along and say look at all that saved money. That’s tax the shite out of it. frick you and everybody thinks like you. Your Money Graham an a-hole probably irresponsible deep in debt never save a dime in your life and all you want is other people’s hard in savings.

There are quite a few Americans who do not know the difference between income and wealth, so I am skeptical that such a high proportion of Americans support a wealth tax. Ask Americans if there should be a wealth tax on the value of their homes or on the value of their retirement accounts.

Not all dollars are equal. Everyone has living expenses, and those take up a much, much larger portion of the income of the guy making $50,000 a year than they do the guy making $5M a year, even accounting for the fact that the $5M/yr guy probably (but not always) has a much more expensive lifestyle.
That's the whole reason income taxes aren't flat in the first place, and why in the 1950s when things were going pretty well for everyone economically no one even batted an eye at the thought that someone at the absolute upper crust would pay a percentage of income tax several times higher than someone in the middle class.
It doesn't take a leftist loon to recognize these things, and you don't have to be some hardcore socialist nutjob to recognize that the American elite have ruthlessly squeezed the average American to the breaking point.

I never called for a flat tax. The post I responded to said the lower class pays a higher % of their pay check in taxes than the highest earners. It's demonstrably false

I guarantee I'm more conservative than you are, but that's ok guy, you go on doing you. You're obviously not interested in a productive conversation so this isn't gonna go anywhere. Have a Merry Christmas.
