Ed McCaffrey just announced on Twitter he has gotten the HC job at Northern Colorado.

Pretty crazy to go from high school to a school like that. I know UNLV did it with the coach from BG but still. Big step up for Ed.

I've never heard of Northern Colorado. Doesn't seem like that much of a stretch.

They are FCS in the big aky and have been legit in the past. It's a pretty big jump. Very rare at any division 1 level go see a school hire a coach from HS.

The conference has Montana, Montana State, eastern Washington and Portland state in it, prolly the best FCS conference.

It will probably be a homerun for them. It's not as big of a step that Sanchez took up, but McCaffrey is a much bigger name. 3 Super Bowl rings and 8,000 NFL receiving yards in a 10-12 year career is a little more impressive than coaching at Bishop Gorman.

I didn't even know mccaffrey was a coach. I wonder if his teams wear the tiny shoulder pads like him.

Anyone remember Gerry Faust? Was the head coach at Moeller High in Cincinnati. He replaced Dan Devine at Notre Dame in 1981. That’s right Notre Dame hired a freakin high school coach. Imagine that today. Faust didn’t work out well going 5-6(first losing record at ND in 18 years), 6-4-1 in 1982, 7-5 in both 1983 and 84, and 5-6 in 1985. He was fired and replaced by Lou Holtz after an embarrassing 58-7 beatdown by Miami live on CBS.

I was a baby then but have read alot about it. He never stood a chance and from quotes I have read was almost relieved it was over.

Years ago McNeese hired their OC from a local HS. Then fired their coach mid season and promoted him. He ended up doing really well and is now at ULM. Matt Viator.

Tiny should pads and no knee, thigh, or hip pads.

It's a small school here in Greeley. You may remember when the backup punter stabbed the starting punter in his kicking leg at a college program in 2006. Ya, that was at UNC
