Actually, you bring up a good point. And this is going to sound a little uncouth, but for the young men approaching and experiencing puberty, tighty whities are probably imprudent. For the very reason of unconstrained ability of the nads to drop low, allowing manhood to flourish. Don't wanna shortchange that process.
Now, once that process fades in the rearview mirror, briefs then have legitimate benefits.

For those that wear Saxx or want to try a pair, If you have a Dillard’s in your town/city, they have most of their Saxx underwear on sale for 40% off plus 30% off of that. Normally they’re around $30 a pair. Warning though, once you go Saxx you’ll never go back.

Boxer briefs are tight. I prefer slightly looser fitting regular boxers. I like my boys to have a little air.
