Skeptical on his arm talent? Brennan will make Ryan Clark look like a fool

I can get accuracy, pocket presence, and intangibles being question marks until proven. But arm talent? That goes against everything I've ever seen, heard, or read about Brennan. Dude has a cannon. Ryan Clark, WTF? You're overruled.

Ryan Clark was the only one who said that the offense was going to have to carry the defense before last year started. EVERYONE said the opposite going into last year.
Ryan Clark is the only one who said it. Makes me wonder.

Without question Brennan’s arm is better than average. Its not Jamarcus Russell, but is stronger than Joe Burrow for example (not a dig at Burrow AT ALL).

I’ll say one thing about Ryan‘s takes - they are always genuine and honest. He was praising the steps he saw Burrow take last summer before we even saw it on the field and I remember thinking, “I’ll believe it when I see it.” There a good chance Ryan updates his comments on Myles after seeing him this summer.

I mean The one thing you can objectively say about Brennen is that the arm is there.
Idk why Ryan Clark is being a wet blanket about this.

The arm talent he is likely referring to is the lack of a finesse throw. It’s 110mph or nothing. That’s Brennan’s biggest downside.
Arm strength doesn’t lack AT ALL.

When Clark says "arm talent", are we sure he's just referring to arm strength? Of course Myles has a cannon but does he have the touch, accuracy and ball placement of an elite quarterback? I've rewatched every snap Brennan has taken over this quarantine and I kind of see what Clark is saying.
One thing I definitely agree with is the hype machine that is the coaching staff pumping up MB. Its been so over done it feels like they're trying to convince us instead of giving an objective evaluation.
Now having said that, I still think him being a fraction of what JB was last year in the same offense could be enough for a playoff run with the defense and running game (our Oline is going to push folks around with our size) we're going to have. I'm predicting 3700 yards, 63% comp, 34 TDs and 13 ints.
For some perspective, while those number are nowhere near last year, they would still be good for the second best season by a QB in school history.

So RC was on AFR with Moscona to explain his thinking behind this and I get it. He even says if he is wrong, he would be on ESPN telling everyone so.

Let's just hope the season starts on time, play some good football and see what MB does.

RC was wrong about Joe and is wrong about Myles. He likes to state controversial stuff so people talk about him. I believe he’s a narcissist.

Arm talent is more than being able to wing it 70 yds. We have not seen "touch" and accuracy. Not saying he does not have it. Just have not seen it yet. i have to believe a guy who threw for 15K yds in HS has them. Those two attributes were key in Joe's success.
When you only look at the zip a QB puts on the ball then Brandon Harris was right up there with the best of them...

Burrow was the greatest QB in LSU history and had the greatest season for a QB in NCAA HISTORY!
Brennan will most probably be way below that standard especially in year 1 but that doesn’t mean he will be bad. My hope is that Brennan is as good as year 1 Burrow.

Arm strength is only one piece of arm talent.
He didn’t say he has a weak arm.

Ryan is just motivating the team

Ryan Clark doesn’t need any help looking like a fool. He’s your prototypical dumbass meat head jock.

Comparing him to Joe will only lead to disappointment. He can be great in his own ways and lead our team. Having a mentor and friend in Burrow is going to make him better. Montana, Aikman and Brady all had weird paths to greatness as has Joe up to now. Let Brennan be himself and try not to crush him under comparisons to a guy who had one of the greatest seasons ever

In Clark’s defense, people confuse arm talent with arm strength. Brennan has a bazooka for an arm, for sure. He needs to show that he has the touch to drop deep balls into a bucket, time the back shoulder, release, catchability, etc...

I think Clark is just trying to tamper down expectations on Brennan somewhat. What he is saying is don't expect him to the next Joe Burrow.
Not to mention that a stronger arm doesn't necessarily equate to a better arm. As there are a lot of other things that go into that like accuracy and throwing a more catchable ball.
I heard on a pod cast where Jack Marucci tracked all of Brennan and Burrow's passes and Burrow came out way ahead because Joe Burrow threw a much more catchable pass relative to Brennan. Thus, this spring before the pandemic hit, Ensminger has Brennan practicing to throw much more catchable balls. Hopefully, he continued that practice on his own during the pandemic.
