yeah in a week draft and drafting that late, getting a guy with one clear positive (speed in this case) is really good

He also fills a huge need of being a dribble penetrator. Since Chris Paul left they've lacked a key ingredient needed to run a good half court offense, penetration. The Pels had about 1 season of Tyreke at point and half a season or so of Ish Smith and that's it. I don't remember any other players that could crack the paint on their own in the half court between Chris Paul and now.
The Pels became a running team in part because they had to since they were so bad at half court creation. Kira should hopefully fix that. You keep some transition offense because you're still good at it, but now you have someone to run a decent half court offense if his college effectiveness at the P&R translates to the NBA.
