It's crazy that our LB coach has more DC experience than our DC though.

On Reddit all of the Miami fans were ecstatic we hired him away. He was demoted from play calling duties and they said their linebackers have been by far their worst defensive position group during his time there. They also said he's not a good recruiter. Hopefully some of it is just sour grapes.

huge home run hires on both offense and defense,
uh, that's quite an exaggeration, don't you think?

the Orgeron coaching tree? You serious, Clark?

There was no direction to go but up from a coaching standpoint. Our D will be improved next year

Shows how much top young up and coming coaches want to be a part of LSU and the Orgeron coaching tree

Not saying these guys won’t turn out well, but, I mean, that’s what young position coaches do... they move upward to any bigger program. I think luring a top veteran coordinator would have more proved your point.

Seems net positive to me. I wasn't super enthused about the DC hire but it made some sense with the available options. Overall, the hires are good enough to set the D on the right path is my hope.

Send an e-mail to Scott Woodward and ask him why Blake Baker wasn't interviewed and/or considered for the Defensive Coordinator position.

I expect a steep learning curve, mistakes and missed assignments early on, but the players will be in shape and motivated and get better as the season progresses

That’s why it is imperative that we have a somewhat normal spring practice. I think no Spring practice last year hurt this team greatly with all the young players and new coaches.

If it works, great.

If not, it’s the perfect set of one-year placeholders until O and the whole staff get fired in December 2021.

I think the LBer and DLine hires are solid upgrades. I wasn't excited by the hiring of Jones but now that he is the DC he has my full support. I think he is surrounded by some very competent coaches on that side of the ball.

Overall it would seem the D has no where to go but up after that clusterf*** last season.

I like this group of defensive coaches much better than what we had.

It has been pretty widely reported that Pelini had a very poor work ethic. Players will mostly do as you do and not as you say. If these guys can flip the culture to one with a strong work ethic then that alone should produce drastic improvement.
