Not sure you meant to reply to me but my point exactly. Max has an average arm. It's probably the worst arm strength of our qbs

Based on what?

Have you watched Brennan spin a football? He has one of the best/strongest arms in college football. Not taking anything away from Max, the kid will be a heck of a QB. But to say Max and Brennan have similar arm talents is not accurate.

Max played with the same defense if I recall

Except it had somewhat improved.

Myles had 430yds, 60.4%,4 td, 0 int in a game... while injured.. but he doesn't have IT because the team lost. People are nuts

I think Brennan starts and that Johnson getting the initial 1st team reps was a bit of mental maneuvering to make it appear closer than it is to try and avoid a transfer

I don’t really understand all the hate on Brennan. If he’s not the guy come first game he’s not the guy. It isn’t like he didn’t basically break himself for a game that the defense couldn’t stop a true freshman qb from putting up 40+ on us. Kid proved he had heart this past season. I really don’t understand why everyone on this board is so against him. Not to mention he stayed when we got Burrow as a transfer and that’s rare these days. If he is the guy I hope he gets the season he deserves as a fifth year senior. Sort of reminds me of Flynn. Perilloux was obviously the more talented qb on the roster but Flynn still took the team to a National Championship after waiting behind Jamarcus.

nobody hates Brennan. Some of us just don't think he's the best QB on the team.

Cant state this enough. If Max as a freshman, looked better(IMO, but most have to at least admit “almost as good”) as a 4th year guy then what happens when the freshman gets 9 more months of growth vs the guy who has been around and “growing” for 4 years only gets 6 more months of growth because of the injury??? It’s like a learning curve is totally ignored! Yes, Brennan’s arm looked better, but that was it, Max looked better in the following areas- scrambling, poise in pocket, throwing on the run, selling an audible, throwing under pressure, comfort in the game in general, converting 3rd down. He’ll continue to grow in these areas and his arm will probably get better!
Where after 4 years is Brennan gonna get better?!?! The “IT” factor people talk about is real and he’s not all of a sudden gonna develop that “IT” after 4 years!

In a game against a terrible D where 3 of their 4 starting DL were out along with several other D starters bc of COVID, a game in which he went 0-10 on 3rd down conversion, a game in which he could’nt score from the 1 with 4 tries to win the game...

Maybe we should have put 10 other people on the field with him.

I dont think I could handle 11 dudes either from 1 yard out.

It's not hate.

When it comes to sports at any level there are players that can rack up stats and look great when it really doesn't count and there are players that make plays when it counts. Brennan has not demonstrated that he has the ability to make plays when it counts and he has had his opportunities. Brennan will produce fantastic stats but if Brennan is starting hopefully the team is never in a position requiring Brennan to make a play with is legs. Defenses know this and will sag back just a little to make it more difficult for him to hit his receivers. On the other hand defenses have to at least respect Max's running ability, albeit not great but respectable.

Brennan went 0-10 on third downs in that game. That is abysmal. That had something to do with the loss don't ya think?

The only thing he’s breaking is a clipboard on the sidelines.

I keep seeing yall say this, but I look at brennan stats and I dont see 3rd down conversions anywhere.

I see it listed under the team stats, but its not an individual stat.

I’m no TJ fan, but I believe Max or TJ QB sneaks it in 1 play. They were able to the rest of the season!

In those 3 games he did the following:
1,112 yards at a 60.3 completion percentage
11 Tds, 3 INTs
63.6 QBR

In the 2 losses his stats were:
784 yards at a 59.55 completion percentage
7 TDs, 2 INTs
59.75 QBR

Statwise his best game of the 3 was the loss to Mizzou. He was not the reason for those 2 losses and pretty foolish to quote the team win-loss record as to why he won't be a good QB when we had historically the worst defense ever at LSU last season.

Quite frankly unless he loses fumbles, that's a great stat line at all times. 430 and 4 tds with 0 int should always win. You're looking for something wrong that isn't there

It doesn't matter what you think, unless you are a coach.

We have confidence in the coaches. They have seen/coached Burrow and made the decision he was the better QB. He proved it on the field.
Whomever they select to take the first snap vs UCLA, he is the man.
I rewatched some of the early games last season. Myles has a cannon and he was spot on when throwing deep balls to Marshal. The receivers were mostly freshmen so many times there was no open receiver and the OL was sporadic.
They are all starting over with equal opportunities.
No matter who wins the starter job, we are fortunate.
