Me and my 3 year old are booked on southwest Sunday morning 7am to Dallas.
What are the chances the flight will be canceled if you have any idea?
Current forecast at 7am Sunday is 23mph sustained winds, not sure what the gusts are. I'd be surprised if Southwest risked your flight to be honest but there's a chance. Can you go Saturday night?
There's a 940pm arriving at 1105pm

Hoping my 4:15 out of MSY to LAX on Thursday doesn't get effed up, flying American so not that hopeful.

Glad you changed but still know there's a chance they cancel. Your flight comes in from Baltimore then heads to Dallas so you should be okay

The flight to phoenix comes in from phoenix in the morning so looking okay on that front. Keep an eye out

I wish United would post a waiver. I'm SUPPOSED to be flying out of MSY on Tuesday morning to LAX. They sent me a text saying that TS Ida will likely cause disruptions or cancellations to closely monitor the situation and that I may be eligible to change my flight at no additional cost.

I went on the app and changed my flight for $0, but they didn’t ticket it…so I had to call their customer service and get them to ticket the new flight. I’m good now. My flight was coming in on Sunday so I’m not sure if the same applies for flights going out on Tuesday or not.

I called United. Changed my flight from sunday to Saturday. From Lafayette. Charged me nothing.

Cuse,
We were originally supposed to come in to Nola from ATL on southwest coming from Raleigh on the 5:10 Sunday evening. We changed the second leg to fly into Jackson. What are your thoughts on making it there? Supposed to land at 7:50 in Jackson. Thanks for your help. Trying to get home Sunday night if possible. Home being BR area.

Sounds like United posted their waiver according to several posters here. I'm out running around and won't be home for a few hours but will add United to the thread title.

Not great but I haven't seen the updated storm track. Will take a look when I'm home around midnight y'all time

What's your thoughts on next weekend flights? Going to Eugene via Denver from MSY.

Okay finally had a chance to take a look at options and most recent wind/weather updates. First question- What time are you able to leave on Sunday? You said you are stuck there until Sunday, but can you leave at 6am?
I found one earlier option on Southwest that leaves at 6:15am that gets you to Jackson by 8:50am. With a 2.5 hr drive, that puts you into Baton Rouge at the earliest say 1pm. This will get you there before the storm hits which appears to be what you're looking for.
If you stick with your current flights that gets in at 7:50pm, I would be very concerned about doing that 2.5 hour drive in a hurricane. Sunday night winds for Baton Rouge at 8pm are forecasted to be 34mph, 9pm 36mph, and increasing up until 5am at 46mph. That's not even wind gusts which will be higher than that. I cannot in good faith recommend that drive especially after flying 2 flights earlier in the day.
Last option- buy a ticket on Delta or American into Jackson for Sunday morning and cancel your tix on southwest for e-credit. Yes you are losing that $$ short term but if you really want to/need to get back this is one of the few situations I would purchase whatever ticket I could get ASAP. You could also book a nonstop to Houston and drive from there, $290.
My advice after looking through all of your options- take an early sunday flight into jackson and drive the 2.5 hours before the winds pick up. The flight you're on now will get you to MS but I have a feeling you won't be able to get the rest of the way back to BR

You will be enjoying the weather out here that is for sure . No idea how MSY holds up from the storm but for now all you can do is wait and see. I'd guess you'll be okay, probably some very full flights out of MSY or into there for the week following the storm.

Flying United Charleston, SC to Jackson, MS thru Houston on Sunday. Moved to earlier flights and supposed to leave Charleston 7:15 AM and land in Jackson just before 1:30 PM. Think we’ll be good?

Thanks for the work and advice, Cruse. Unfortunately, can’t leave that early. I have friends in Jackson where I can stay until I can get out Monday if necessary. I was mostly hoping that flight would take off and land and that’s good enough for the situation I’m in.

If it was me deciding go/no-go on your specific flights, I'd say yours are okay. It's the ones later in the day and evening that are likely to get cancelled but United could just say nah and not fly anything tomorrow. Are you okay getting stuck in Houston if the flight to MS gets cnxld?

That is very good news, if you land and see it's already a mess in BR don't risk it. Although Monday will be worse in MS than LA
