The Velvet Cactus... Lexo review added.

I know a TON of hot waitresses there. Nice mixture of high school 18 year olds and LSU nursing students

Went there when it first opened and then again recently. The open patio area is really nice when the weather cooperates.
The first time I went, I thought the food was mediocre at best. But the time I went recently, the food was much much better. I would recommend the place on atmosphere alone, but they really stepped up the food there as well. I don't remember the prices being unreasonable either.
There was a southwestern egg roll appetizer that we got that was incredible.

yeah and drinks. Not known for fine dining but one of the most popular spots in Lakeview. I always have a good time. Think Superior Grill.

Its a really nice set up.
The food is absolute GARBAGE, and that includes those eggrolls. Seriously, I live in the neighborhood and have tried to give it a chance a few times.
The food is terrible. The drinks are mediocre, but they work. The setup is awesome.
I wish it would shutdown so someone with good food could take advantage of the awesome set up.

I never thought I would say this by how much I hate Superior Grill, but Superior might actually be better than this place, if you can believe it.
Cactus' food is just fricking terrible. Can you tell how much I hate this place?
Go eat at El Gato Negro, go drink at Velvet Cactus.

Don't even bother with the apps. They suck too.
Seriously, the reason why this irks me so much is because the set up IS so awesome. I wish the food matched it.

My review ( for what it's worth ) is simple. This place is not worth the 1 hour 15 minute wait for a table we had to endure.
Normally, I would have walked away then, but, the wife and her friend were very excited about this place.
Don't see myself going back unless the wife and her buddy have their hearts set.

Women are weird. They like piece of shite places like Superior and Velvet for some reason. I don't get it.

Yeah, there is always a ridiculous wait. I live 3 blocks away but always choose Sante Fe and El Gato over Velvet Cactus.
