Can’t wait to play this one. Will wait until full release and not touch the demo (I never play demos). Disappointed by the feedback on Ronin so hopefully this one lives up to the hype.

I normally agree with you on this, but just FYI this demo is like FF16s where you're just playing the first hour of the game and can immediately continue where you left off upon full release

and there’s still 3rd person shooting mechanics to come. At least I didn’t find any in the demo.

You can use the gun in the fight against the boss with the chainsaw head. If you hold L2 in that fight, she should pull out her gun.

Cool. Still not gonna play the demo lol. I have no desire to play the hour and then stop and wait until the rest releases

Apparently the demo has been downloaded more times than Rebirth by a massive amount. I’m not really sure what if anything can be or should be made of that since ones free and ones 70$ but it’s interesting. This is going to be a massive hit.

I guess I'll be playing the demo tonight then. Didn't realize that progress carried over.

Digital foundry released a video reviewing the performance/quality and everything has passed with flying colors. Can’t wait to play this

Forgot this was happening!

Still have like two or so chapters of rebirth to finish and then I’m moving on to this.

The demo did enough to sell me and the reviews are pretty positive so I’m extra excited.

Just gonna be weird when my wife walks in while I’m playing. She’s just gonna have to deal with it. The gameplay is too fun.

Downloading for when I get off at 4.

Can’t wait to slice and dice and figure out where this story is gonna lead.

Just played through the tutorial section again.

Much better at the moves this time. Killed the Lightning guy much easier and was far more successful with blink.

Focused more on upgrading parry and blink abilities than moves at first.

Now getting into the unknown.

So how is this? I’ve been busy as hell so haven’t gotten a chance to get to it yet.

I’ve only made it passed the demo and a few areas beyond, but I’ve enjoyed it so far. I haven’t made it to the next big boss yet, been real busy with work the last 3 days.

Combat is fun. Exploration is fun and enemy type has been varied so far.

I’m really enjoying it.

It’s a lot like Nier Ultimata, but slower and more about parry than dodge.

Should get to play a good bit on my off day tomorrow.

Made it to Xion.

Enjoyed everything so far. Didn’t really want to put it down.

Sometimes I feel like I’m playing Ocarina of Time trying to line up some of these jumps. I can see why it can frustrate some people but it’s been few and far between for me so far.

Combat is legit and extremely fun. Really got into the flow of it towards the end of the first part and basically decimated the boss with perfect parry. I tend to be parry heavy vs dodge but both are satisfying.

I focused on parrying and faster beta recharge in regards the skill tree.

I want to explore because I want the obvious heath and beta increases but also want to make sure I don’t miss out on key outfit items haha it’s all about the glam.

Overall…..9/10 for me so far.

It's really good. Combat is very satisfying, but a little too easy. I've died 1 time so far to a rematch with the first Alpha and that was purely because I wandered into his arena with only 2 stims + he had a pretty impressive expanded moveset. Much harder than first fight

Yes, it's very wonky. You basically have to jump into walls at a 45deg angle to initiate wallrun or else Eve won't grab on and you'll just slide into the abyss

Same, I went all in on beta charge skills early on. After initial trip to Xion, you get to a big open area that has lots of little side missions. They give out SP like candy, I have a TON of skills that I didn't think I would have this early in the game.

Also running a piece of gear that gives like 15% extra attack power but you take 25% more damage. Makes it a little more interesting

I crushed Abaddon on the first fight.

The Corruptor got me once.

I’ve died a few times, usually due to my missing a parry or a grab.

The combat hasn’t been too tough yet. I am still on Eidos 7 though. Taking it slow and doing as much exploring as possible.

I know I’ve missed a few things. I’ve found 2/3 nano suits and I think all of the cores but one body core.

There are some things from the beginning a need to go back for.

I did the same as well. I’ve started to go for some of the core attack stuff though as well.

I’m curious to see what skills are locked.

Glad to hear there is enough SP to go around. Seems you will always get some with any kills and I guess that means you can ultimately unlock everything.

I forgot to mention the soundtrack. Really love it. A good soundtrack is always worth a few points in my book.

I noticed the first city resembled New York…maybe even supposed to be New York but I have noticed a lot of Russian signage…not sure if that plays into the story or what but just something I have noticed early.

Very much like Nier Automata. Relaxing and intense at the same time.

I have been trying to guess the story, with what little I know so far.

Possible Spoilers?

The body core they invented to give them the ability to advance as a species (breathe underwater, survive in space, etc.) is the source of the mutation into naytibas.

The crickets all have “high heels”. Makes me think they are mutated females. The other enemies are mutated males. Then you have the animals though.

Just speculation at this point.

Studio Monaca did the scores for both Nier games and Stellar Blade. SB has different composers but the DNA is all over it.

Agree on your story theory. If you explore Xion, you’ll find lots of posters and propaganda of people with conspiracy theories about both Mother Sphere and Oracle, as well as statist propaganda telling people to fall in line. I’m guessing they all end up having their own malevolent intents and there’s no real good faction. I mean ffs, oracle has to end up evil because his room looks like a giant boss room and they wouldnt have his bodyguard look that badass and not have him be a boss fight Still drip feeding story where I’m at, though it doesn’t seem like they’re trying to conceal anything given all the collectibles arguing for every side. Guessing the real twists come later

Also, I spoke too soon regarding difficulty, there’s a pretty substantial difficulty spike once you get to the area after the wasteland. Enemy timings become trickier and they hit like trucks. I beat the living frick out of the 2nd Alpha though

Brah…I took a left out of xion in the wasteland. Down some tight corridor…and into a small arena with dead bodies and a case. shite got spicy. I’ll have to beat that tomorrow.
