Will be in the area for a couple of days in early May. Looking for some options on where to play one maybe two rounds.
Is Kiawah Island Ocean Course worth the $650 green fee and the hour drive out there? What are other good options.
Thanks.

Patriot point is a decent course that’s on the water don’t remember it being to expensive.

Many people think it is worth it.
I would not pay that, but I usually look for courses less travelled.

Stono Ferry was very nice. Just outside the city.
If youre willing to drive to Kiawah, just play the other courses on the island and just go to the Ocean Course clubhouse.
Play Turtle Point. They have 3 holes that are basically on the beach as well.
Osprey Point and Oak Point were also great. Far cheaper but still a solid price tag.

Drive to Kiawah. It’s worth the green fee, the drive and the price to stay at the sanctuary (~$1,000/night).
Place is awesome and I’m already trying to get back.

Second this. It’s worth the money assuming it’s within budget. Magical place and fantastic experience. The caddie pushes it over the top

The ocean course is a bucket list course. If it’s in the budget…

Must be a heck of a budget to squeeze in almost $700 for a green fee.

Not many golf courses are ever worth $650.00, but it’s a beautiful walk. Good vibes at the Ryder Cup bar. Pretty cool to see families watching golfers finishing up 18 in the afternoon/evening while catching the sunset.
Caddie fee was $120 per bag when I played it last year.

Wild Dunes was nice, crap driving range though

Decent course. Had my bachelor party in IOP and had 4 4somes playing Wild Dunes.
Fun course, a little tight.

That $650 is just the green fee. Don’t forget caddy tip ($200 if you aren’t cheap), lunch and a dozen lost balls. But you only love once so I would do it

Do not do this.
Along with the Kiawah courses mentioned, Stono Ferry is great. On the East Cooper side, both Wild Dunes courses are great. Rivertown and Dunes West are top as well. We’re all members at Charleston National and it’s a really fun, challenging (14/18 holes on the marsh), not too expensive course.

Ocean Course is worth every penny in my book. Played there and Harbour Town in back to back days recently. OC was by far the more enjoyable track imo.

Green fees at nice course have exploded post covid. Even just a few years ago it was only 450
