Looking to buy a cordless weed eater. Any recommendations?

Ryobi 40v from home depot

The Ego has great power, and it's so easy to restring. Literally, you poke the string through a hole, then press a button.

If you have cordless tools, look for the same brand and get that one. I have a bunch of Milwaukee tools and they also make a weed eater so I got that one ( they sell it without the battery) and it will save you a few bucks.

Ego.

Weed eater and blower are legit.
Push mower gets the job done if you need to do a little tight space work.
Father in law has a chain saw that he likes.

That zero turn is intriguing but $5,500…

I know people say pick a brand, buy all their stuff, etc. I got an EGO mower last year, but still have my Ryobi 40v that’s pretty old and just won’t die. I’ve replaced the battery once with one of the $50 refurbs or whatever off eBay.

My neighbor has had Ryobi everything for a long time and told me a few things that have helped me keep this aftermarket reject battery going for at least 3 years or so.

1. Don’t run it down until it’s totally dead. Put it on the charger once you realize you’re down to one bar.

2. Don’t run it wide open when it’s hot outside and get your battery really hot. It’s not bad to run it wide open, just give it a to cool off when you do. I didn’t do that with the original it came with, and have noticed that if you do, when you can come back to it, sometimes will put another bar of energy on the display that was previously gone.

3. Don’t put it on the charger when it’s hot. Let it cool in the shade/inside for a little while before you put it back on the charger.

4. Don’t use it in the rain, or let it get wet.

I’m not sure if all this was in the manual or not. I usually wipe my arse with manuals.

Add me to the list of happy 40v Ryobi owners. I'm also very happy their 40v hedge trimmer and 40v pole saw.
