8bb per 9ip is a lot. Like high red-alert a lot

That type of wildness is generally hard to correct.

This team has me very close to breaking my rule about discussing attrition.

I wouldn’t mind discussing it. I wonder what the team will look like next year turnover wise.

Might as well. I’m sure Jay is already considering it. I expect us to be much more aggressive in the portal position player wise this year.

We must be gearing up for the portal if we told Kehlenbrink we wouldn't have a spot for him.

We already don't have a ton of bodies when you consider potential draft attrition. So if we're cutting signees loose this early, we're planning to load up.

As an aside, if we're going to cut signees loose, I'd rather it be early so they can land on their feet somewhere.

You are correct . May see some more signees do the same. Win now mode for next year.

Oh damn.

I was already surprised with Kehlenbrink. I'd be even more surprised with any other losses to the class.

Especially since we've already shed some of the California guys that committed when Jay first came over.

I believe it’s more of playtime conversations as a freshman/underclassman when you’re bringing in an experienced team to win next year. I was surprised at Kehlenbrink as well with Yeskie loving left handers as much as does. Might be more to that situation than roster management.

Maybe, I'm just going off what the kid said he was told.

I mentioned getting Louisiana players last offseason. I sure hope we can bring some home through the portal. I think this team needs it.

In a conversation with a coach from another school that was scouting him shortly after it happened.

I’m not sure, really. It’s just wishful thinking that there might be a few players that have developed elsewhere and want to come home.

I’m not blaming Jay, it would just be nice to have more local guys on the team that really care about being here.

It seems like 2 of the La recruits for next class won’t make it here
Schmidt and Victorian. For completely different reasons.

JUCO two way guy to keep an eye on: Brady Thomas from Jones College in Mississippi. Played last season at Meridian with Blaise Priester. RHP and switch hitting 1B.

ETA: He actually split some time at catcher with Priester at Meridian. He didn't pitch there though.

Saw a screenshot of an Athletic article that mentioned Curiel.

Basically said he hasn't matured physically since his sophomore year like expected and lacks power. Goes as far as to say "there's no power there at all." Further states that he's better suited to go to college, add some weight, and then enter in 2027.

Would be big.

That's now two publications saying he could or should make it to campus.

Baseball America has been talking about it for a while now.

He's top 100 (somewhere in the 90s) according to Baseball America. I know nothing of his signability though. I've not heard him specifically mentioned on any of the podcasts I listen to.

As we get closer to the draft more info may come out, but right now I have no idea.

Things seem to be moving in our direction with JUCO RHP Kyrin Leblanc

Kyrin Leblanc - RHP - Cisco College (orig from St Martinville) has officially decommitted from Texas State.

It looks like us, Texas, and Oklahoma are in on him.
