He's fallen on BAs list too.

Are the 2024 JUCO guys all gonna be day 1 contributors next season?

Reading a little bit on him and they are saying the potential is through the roof with the power bat and strong arm. The rest of his game needs work though. Sounds similar to Jared Jones out of high school.

Priester will be counted on, because we always need catching depth. Even if Arrambide gets to campus, Priester will play.

Schmidt will compete at 1B and DH, assuming Jones goes pro.

Reeves will compete at 2B if Milam shifts to a different position. He could also DH or possibly play corner OF. He's a bat first guy.

I don't know if Harden is a Day 1 guy, he's still developmental considering he was a two sport guy in HS and is only now full time baseball. I think he's a future starter but it may not be next season.

Ware will get innings.

He's going to compete at 1B and for an OF spot. His injury set him back at a time when he was really starting to come on.

Frey being RHH helps. I do wonder if they would put him back behind the plate at all.

Still plenty time for him to climb the rankings, but Cade Arambide at 102 surprises me. I thought he would be much higher.

His profile is almost identical to Jones and Travinski coming out of HS. No guarantee he sticks at catcher or hits for any average.

Not yet. And I look at some of the smaller conferences to see if there are a lot of freshmen and sophomores playing, but it's a lot of older guys.

I still think there will be some Pac 12 guys that leave their schools because of the goofy travel, but it's not anything we'll hear about for a few more weeks.

While not currently showing on their roster, it looks like Derrick Mitchell will be joining Kucherak and Trevor Schmidt in La Crosse.

We have a decent contingent of players going to the Northwoods League, which is great because they play a ton of games and the competition is good. And their games stream for free. I watched a lot of Frey and Moffett last summer.

In what seems like a big indicator of his draft leanings, Griffin Herring is scheduled to pitch for Chatham in the Cape Cod league this summer.

It's conceivable that he pitches there and still intends to go pro but it's not typical.

Looking at a JUCO top 100 list from PBR. They have like 60 guys committed. About 30 of them are committed to SEC schools (incl Texas and OU).

Oklahoma alone has 8 JUCO top 100 guys committed. We have 4, Tennessee has 4. All three have more JUCO guys committed than just the guys on the top 100 list.

I think the JUCO ranks are stronger than in years past and will actually continue to be a good pipeline. With the hubbub over the portal the last couple years, there are a lot of players that were recruited over that ended up in JUCO and got a lot of opportunity. I think that's going to carry forward for a little while.

Last summer there were a lot of small school shortstops that transferred to larger schools. The smaller schools didn't respond by continuing to play freshmen. They're playing JUCO guys and older portal guys. The talent level in the portal will be very volatile year to year. I think it's why some schools are still focused on JUCOs, so they can get the experience but with a little more of the traditional recruiting rather than the speed dating of the portal.

The attrition on this team has got to be higher than usual is that your guess?

Out overall numbers are still low for this time of year. We’re at 59/40 and we’re going to get hammered by the draft. I don’t think there will need to be a ton of attrition unless we go portal heavy. I think we will be more surgical though.
