You may be right, but I think it's safe to say that every player that Johnson has signed has come into the program with lofty expectations. I have nothing to substantiate this next statement, but I think some of the new, younger players may have come into the program thinking we're the reigning national champs and things were going to be easy, especially since they started the season off 16-2 before conference games started. Regardless of what the problem may be, I have full confidence that Johnson will get the Tigers going back in the right direction soon. Now, do Tiger fans have the patience to let the process work itself out is the big question?

As a former collegiate baseball player, people that make comments like
“ I’m not sure this team has much talent”

Are completely ignorant and foolish.

Generally speaking, if you make a roster on an SEC club, you were one of THE BEST athletes and ball players in a given area.

I played with a ton of great talented athletes that couldn’t perform, for whatever reason. It happens.
Sometimes some kids just went turned it on the next year.
You don’t know until you know.

This team looks different if Kling and another guy or two turned it on.

Speaking of Kling, the kid has TONS of talent and athletic ability.
It’s not Jays fault this kid has struggled. You recruit that kind of player every day and pray they choose your school.

Great insight. It makes me think about how so many fans think if you don't have a top five recruiting class, you didn't get any good players, but that's a complete lie. If you finished with a top 20 class, you still got a lot of talented players. Signing them is great, but will they perform at their peak ability when they get on campus is another question.

College baseball in general is much better now than it was back in the Skip days, or even 15 years ago. The opposition is putting more resources into the sport than ever before, and the other programs are in a lot better shape than when Skip would lose multiple top 5 in the nation players and just reload. These days, you just cannot lose the best pitcher and best field position player and expect to just keep on as you have before every single time it happens. Sometimes you will reload and be just as good. Sometimes this will happen. It's just the nature of 21st century college baseball.

All this talent is on paper, several of these highly regarded HS kids have proven they will never sniff MLB . Not only that they’re not even above average college players. Swings and misses occur on and off the field. This more than anything has led to our demise. Go get better players …..

I thinj people give up on guys way too soon.

there are dudes who make the show at 21 and dudes who make the show at 28.

Milazzo was a career .157 hitter going into his Senior year and hit .289. Some guys have it from the jump. some guys get better.

I’m not sure “giving up on them” is what’s happening here. This is LSU you have the capabilities to field 2 studs at every position. Great example is SS giant swing and miss there . Roster building and evaluating portal talent is paramount. Do better JJ.

I think this understates the LSU position.

Frankly, I don’t think we have a ton of talent.

Also, we aren’t just not hitting our potential, we are losing 4 of every 5 league games.

I wish we just weren’t clicking the way we could. It’s much worse than that.

Good teams need leaders and clutch players. LSU baseball is short on both.
