I truly believe that an average defense this year would have won LSU a Championship.

It’s not recency bias. JD simply was more likely to score on long plays. The statistics overwhelmingly show this.

The difference is vs elite competition and when our D was awful Burrow was much better and went to an unprecedented level of play. JD was awesome but Burrow was the GOAT.

Burrow was much better at overall qb play. He could read defenses and spread the ball all over the field.

JD5 was a better athlete and honed his deep ball skills with a pair of elite receivers.

The Burrow offense was the only time in my life where I just ignored down and distance.

Who cares, they were both the greatest and we were lucky to have them

Crazy how in four years people have already forgot this about Burrow.

It’s why the only game that would’ve been a toss up this year is Alabama and I believe Burrow would’ve carved them up too. Theres no way LSU loses to FSU and Ole Miss this year with Burrow at QB. Burrow would’ve showed up big in the 4th quarter of those games.

After the first couple games of 2019 it was easy to see as long Burrow was at QB no one was beating LSU.

JD did not make the critical 3rd down against Ole Miss.

I disagree. The throw was made, unfortunately the catch was not. He threw the ball where it had to be thrown.

I also disagree with arguing 1 against the other. JD is the ultimate dual threat. JB as previously stated was an absolute surgeon. JB had escapability just ask Georgia fans, but was more prone to running a DB over to running around them as JD oftentimes did. They are 2 different style QB’s that I loved watching in P&G, and will forever cheer on in the NFL.

TLDR - apples to oranges comparison, we managed to have the best apple and the best orange arguably ever in a 4 year span.

Defense

This is the correct answer. He probably would have thrown for a 1,000 more yards if our defense could have forced some 3 and outs. If we'd have had Kentucky or Mizzu's defense we probably would have won a Natty.

We had second half leads in our 3 losses. We were a couple of stops a game from going undefeated.

LSUs offense scored 7 points in the second half against FSU and the 7 points was in garbage time. Up by 3 at the half and the offense basically putting up a goose egg isn’t a couple stops from winning.

The offense isn't going to be perfect in every game. A couple of stops means more opportunities for the offense. We weren't elite on offense in game 1. I think we turned the corner against MSU

The schedule was weak this year except for FSU, Missouri, Ole Miss and Bama. Missouri is the only team on the schedule I would consider an impressive win.
