Because the coaching is making the players look worse than they are

Poor tackling, bad angles, and a soft scheme is not a talent issue

Whose job is it to identify needs, evaluate talent, recruit, and coach up defensive players again?

They need to not only be “good” but need to be really good and need no developing when they arrive on campus. Basically NFL players upon arrival and bide their time and develop and coach themselves for 3 years.

Agreed. LSU’s best player in the secondary isn’t supposed to be a transfer from SELU.

I thought we should have considered keeping Daronte Jones after 2021. The D showed a lot of progress towards the end of the season. Not saying I want him now, but he would have been better than this.

Jesus we have idiots for fans.

And just why the hell would great players come and play for terrible coaches? You have to have a good recruiter and coach in place in order to attract them

I have a simple question that you should be able to answer pretty easily. Who is responsible for getting good defensive players that we are currently missing?

I think that may end up being Toviano. He showed some promise last right and should be a good one under a better staff.

Hopefully Johnson is good next year coming back from injury, as well.

We keep regurgitating the same conversations in multiple threads. We do not have all the players we need to better balance the offense we have. We do have good enough talent to be better than we are. A big part of the defensive issues seem to revolve around not being able to seal the deal on many players we are after and really need. That's a big part of college coaching along with x's and o's. We need better players on defense period. But we also need coaches who can recruit the types of difference makers we need and then coach them up just like Daniels has been coached up. It's not one or the other. It's a combination.
