I could be way off, but he looks 160lbs soaking wet. He needs to get physically stronger. I bet he could add 3-4 mph on his fastball which would help with his slider. If he can get better at locating his fastball would help.

if you dont use as a pitcher, it a waste of talent not to get him in the mix in the infield.

yeah the problem is that the curve is a wipeout pitch. he doesnt throw it for strikes. which isnt a problem if its thrown selectively. but batters know to just....not swing at it and take the ball.

He’s listed at 178.

Pedro Martinez and Tim Lincecum were both listed at 170 during their career and are arguably two of the best pitchers of all time.

We tried that last fall.

He needs more than a fall to get used to hitting again. Especially since he hadn't hit in a year.

and had great control...

sure, Guidry (in theory) could prosper at that weight, but getting to 190 or so wouldn't hurt him at all.

The analysis in this thread is right (for once ). He's been figured out now, and guys know what to wait on.
I wonder if the feisty attitude last year fooled people at the plate, thinking he had a fireball in the tank.

Velocity isn’t the problem…….pitch calling is

Having trouble with the link but he topped out at 95 in high school with 4 pitches for strikes. He topped out at 94 last year against South Carolina. He has been pigeon holed and USED incorrectly ( he isn’t the only one). Lots will be gone next year…..some on purpose but some not on purpose. Yeskie is the problem

Rebuilding from the ground up year loading………….

True but Braswell led our team in hitting last fall and is doing the same in SEC play. He was brought in to play SS and has done nothing to lose the job.

I imagine GG will get another chance at being an everyday position player this summer. Hopefully he can last more than 1 day before being injured this time and show us what he can do.

No shot! He will not play SS at LSU ever! He hasn’t swung a bat for a consistent period of time since February 2023.
