I mean, getting admitted is the hard part. Once you're in, then just do your course work. Calculus and Physics doesn't change based on where it's taught.

I recently read an article pointing out that 80% of the grades given at Harvard are an A.

Half the faculty believes in this narrative grading bullshite as well.

You can coast at Harvard once admitted, that's the challenge.

My step Father has a Masters in Finance from Harvard. He's a pretty smart guy. That's all I got.

I once dated a girl who graduated from Sarah Lawrence, which isn't Ivy, but not too far off. The amount of work required was pretty daunting. Even courses that would be considered blowoffs at LSU would have a term paper and a lot of outside reading. Yes, if you did the work it was hard to fail, and there was plenty of help if you needed it. But you did have to put in the work.

Depends on the major, but for most it is the same or easier at Harvard. As others mentioned it is about getting in that is hard. Once there, it is no different from most any college when it comes to course load and in fact grading is likely easier because “we are taking the best kids, of course they are all going to get A’s”.

That said, LSU has also become a joke in many ways and it is way easier to get good grades now than before because they pander to the students AND many faculty don’t give a crap about teaching. It’s just an obligation to them, and easier grades means less students “needing” help.

I'm so glad I didn't have to spend hrs volunteering to pick up dog shite in a park, protesting on Capital Hill, marching in gay pride parades, taking SAT pre-test classes ad nauseum, and writing dozens of essays codifying my self worth to get into LSU.

Whitworth went to Harvard?

It shouldn’t but not all schools test or grade the same and they don’t necessarily tackle the same topics. The complexity of what you are asked to do can vary a lot. It can also be tremendously different depending on which era you were in when you were in school.

I went back to school after being away from academia for thirty years. Being able to retake tests, take tests at home unsupervised, professors not being able to put something on a test that they didn’t specifically go over in class. Those things did not exist 30 years ago!

Having said that, I know nothing about Harvard. I did find LSU tough in the late 80’s early 90’s.

You guys are full of shite.

Not one of you have the first clue what it takes to graduate from Harvard. How Harvard is different from the state college you may/may not have attended in Louisiana.

All of you -- stick to football.

"Aw yea ... Harvard's easy once you get in. No different from LSU." I can't believe you stupid asses put that in writing.

Don't know. Guess it depends on the curriculum you choose.

My dad went to LSU at age 16 and had a Masters in Physics at age 21.

He was probably smart enough for Harvard.

Very few can afford those schools where a bad grade will end your scholarship and force you to transfer or take out massive loans. So the pressure is way more than LSU.

I can guarantee Harvard didn't have James Bond English and Math.

Props to your Dad. A MS degree in anything at 21 is impressive, let alone physics.

LSU is world class when it comes to academics. Harvard is nothing but a brand.
