I haven't heard anything since the fall. It was said that the staff still hadn't decided if they want Guidry as a starter or as a closer. Personally, I never thought of Guidry as a starter but apparently the staff feels he can be. They may not go that direction but they at least see that potential in him.

The great thing that differentiates Cam from some of the other high arm talent pitchers that have arrived on campus is the limited mileage on his left arm compared to other high prospects who came in after being overworked and/or injured in high school.

The rotation always seems to work itself out and I expect that he might move into a starting role sooner rather than later in his college career.

And because the staff is so deep there will not be a need to put a huge amount of stress on him in year one.

people dont understand how big this is... if you can bring him along slow then he may not have to get TJ like everyone else...

Jay has said time and time again that he really likes one of his top arms on the back end of the bullpen for high leverage situations. I feel Johnson can fit that while getting big time experience this season and then focus on stamina and extending deeper into games in the offseason and next season.

With Hurd, Holman, and Jump he doesn't really need to be a starter this season. As I said before, there is a point for every pitcher if they are dominating then you may have to give him more starting looks if any of the starters show any signs of struggling. That will play out as we go.

Watched him during the UL scrimmage, and he certainly fits the bill. A big kid who throws hard and has a wicked slider. He had 7 strikeouts in 2 innings, not much more you could ask for!

He’s raw but he has all the talent in the world. Could go #1 overall if he continues to develop and reach his potential. We are lucky to have him.

If he stays healthy and is as good as advertised (and I think he is), one of two things will happen.

1) By midseason he will find his way into the rotation

2) Our rotation will be so good he can't break in, so he goes to a closer type / shut down role, in which case, I think Johnson wins his second NC this year.

Think Randy Johnson mixed with Greg Maddox with UCLs of steel.

Since the first two weekends are 4 game series, he’ll probably start the year in that 4 man rotation.

This is a good point. Could have a 4 man rotation for the first two weekends, then make a decision on who the best 3 starter options are going into the third weekend.

I would look for them to break him in like they did Shores last season.

when you look back at the injuries to our staff it’s insane to thing that team somehow could have been better
