He's like a can of fix a flat. He will help you in a pinch but you can't rely on him long term.

Good post! I definitely bought in too. I wasn't happy about the initial hire, but I bought in even after much smarter people stuck by their guns at O's record and what a horrible coach he would be. Makes me feel dumb!

I was extremely disappointed in the O hire, especially after the Herman/Jimbo fiasco. That was the strangest few days I have ever seen this forum . Sauces were spewing all over the place , somehow deep in your gut you knew Alleva would frick everything up . Of course , the minute Texas came into the fold and Herman’s agent probably called for a negotiation Allevas ego popped up and he told Herman Frick off.

I started to be ok with the O hire when I saw he hired who I thought was a good OC . Jury is still out on Canada but there are a few things I am absolutely certain of:

Alleva must go
O must go
Grimes must go
We need a special teams coach

Those are the major problems in order of importance. The reality is we will probably start completely fresh once we replace Orgeron. That means bye bye to Aranda , Raymond , and Canada most likely .

That would be fine. This program needs to hit the reset button anyway.

We may never know the whole truth on how that went down. Herman wanted the Texas job. I think that's obvious. Jimbo was my guy, but it became pretty clear he was using us for a raise at FSU or wanted us to pay a king's ransom for his hire. I think it was the latter. He's very comfortable at FSU.

Of the remaining possible candidates there was no one I was real excited about which also led me to accept and support the hire of O. I was actually a little intrigued with Gundy, mullet and all.

This was me to a T. I hoped CEO would be a good coach and believed all we needed was a great OC and DC to win. CEO just does not have it. We are not disciplined enough to win in the SEC.

I understand wishful delusion on the part of our fans but goddamn has this been frustrating to watch.

Alleva is supposed to be the adult in the room but he seems to be consistently in over his head. Setting aside how he got the job after nationally embarrassing Duke during the lacrosse story - he formed no proper search to identify a large number of candidates. He did not go in prepared to negotiate with the only two candidates he identified.

He did not even use the leverage he had with Orgeron to negotiate a cheap contract (unlike Missouri this year who can easily wash their hands of their poor choice). He also put LSU compliance at risk by allowing special P to become an official part of LSU's football program.

Incompetence at that level has to have consequences. Alleva must go first. Then a proper search committee should be formed to first find a quality athletic director and then a second search committee including the mew AD has to be formed to identify a good list of potential long term coaches with championship potential.

No one saw this shite show coming.

I didn't see us losing to Troy this soon, but I have said from the day his name was mentioned that he was going to be a disaster and would never win jack shite. Too many people thought talent was enough to win. It's how dumb asses wrote off Miles success. "He's an idiot. Anyone can win with this talent". Despite the obvious flaw in that (les recruited that talent), it's not that easy. A lot of great programs have shite the bed with great talent on the field.

frick all you idiots that bought into the shite show known as Zero. And don't crawfish now and say you didn't like the hire. You better own that shite.

I never thought LSU would win anything with him, but I did convince myself that the talent and the rest of the coaching staff were enough to keep the program from going nuclear. I was wrong.
