Coach O went out and pulled players (Burrows, the kicker, coaches etc) from places nobody was looking or had the contacts to turn them onto like O did. He worked his tail off to put that 2019 team together which is arguably the best in history, so anyone Saying we would have done with with anyone else doesn’t know football. The stars aligned for him & nobody else would have put that chemistry together, nobody!

Big Bet = Rich = Who give a shite after that

Two things can be true, yes Coach O coached our team to a National Championship in 2019 but he also turned our program into a laughing stock and dumpster fire over the last two years.

I personally did not like how the Coaching search went in 2016 that led to O getting the job and frankly Joe Alleva shite the bed. If I could change anything it would be that LSU hired Scott Woodward in 2016 and he made the Coaching hire.

Aranda is the only one I would have wanted looking back. Herman and Fisher wouldn’t have cut it. Although I feel Herman was let go from UT too soon.

Aranda would have stabilized the program. All that bs that O allowed wouldn’t fly with Aranda. The OBJ money, the dancing in the White House., RTWFU. Aranda is a no nonsense guy like Kelly. All that said, Aranda is one of the few I’d take but I’m happy with Kelly for now.

Side note, at what point is O welcomed back around? I know he still loves LSU and will never speak bad about LSU. I don’t know about a statue but you’ve got to think he’ll be honored somehow. I wouldn’t mind him working in the football ops department in some role under SW’s direction.

He could really be a good guy to have for fundraising. Imagine Coach O in a room full of baws. He’d have them shelling out their wallets in no time. He lives and dies for the purple & gold.

If I had a time machine I rather go back to my teenage years and spend more time with my family. Then I would invest in Apple or Amazon. And would skip all LSU football related stuff.

This is an easy answer. 10/10 wouldn't change how things turned out. The 2019 team is arguably the best college football team of all time and that's not possible without Burrow. You likely don't get Burrow without O as HC. Yeah the past few seasons have been tough, but in the end, it was worth it all.

And if pilot Lewis Benscotter had not decided to climb higher in the private plane he and Coach Bo Rein were in on Jan. 10, 1980, the whole football coaching landscape (CFB and PFB) would have been totally different - to this day.

What really bugs me is not that we hired O but that once he proved his incompetence to build a long lasting program, we let him coach as a lame duck and then gave him 17 million. Woodward could have refused to pay because of the sexual scandal under his leadership. I thought he mailed it in as a coach the rest of the season also. Wade not getting to coach us in the tournament TWICE and him leaving with nothing is such a contrast to what happened to O. Then the son of a gun goes to Notre Dame and says they will win a national championship, which of course, was a shot to Kelly. Never has such a proven idiot as O been given so much for so little. Burrow and Brady were brought to him by other people so how much credit does he get for that? People give him credit for 2019 but it was really Aranda, Burrow, Brady and Ensminger who should get the accolades. He was a cartoonish figurehead and that was that.

If I had a time machine and could only change LSU stuff, this is the only correct answer. God only knows where LSU would be if we had Bo Rein.

Hell no. He won a natty and should be respected and recognized for that. Only 3 others names have done that at LSU before him. Am I glad he is gone, yes only because I think he got very complacent. All the perfect storm bla bla bla bullshite I don't want to hear. Let the man be and he should be respected for the 2019 season.

If I had a time machine, I would have killed a lot of politicians and invested in certain stocks. Sports would be the last of my priorities.

You lived through 10 years of the Les Miles offense and you don't know what you would do? And you post a thread like this?

No. I'd use it to prevent Perrilloux from ruining his LSU/NFL career.

Or I'd use it to tell Jamie Howard to scramble on those pass plays in Auburn.

With hindsight, I wouldn't prevent LSU from hiring him, but following the championship, I'd change his job duties to recruiting the Florida panhandle coast. He could chase all the stands he wants and Aranda or someone new could run the team.

If I had a time machine, I’d go back about 1 minute and not read this thread.

No, I wouldn't prevent LSU from hiring the coach that takes us to the elite status that we reached. National Champions and the best college football team ever fielded!

Would you prevent your parents from conceiving you? Just saying....
