This is where we are now, basically transferring out after a handful of practices. Thats as wasted of a scholarship as it gets

Actually, it’s just the opposite. If the kid realizes he can’t compete for meaningful playing time, he should move on and open the door for another kid that wants to be a Tiger. This is better than having him take up a roster spot on scholarship only to be passed on the depth chart by younger, better players every season.

You are mostly right. He was at North Desoto for 2 years 8th grade - Freshman year. 2 years at Many, the 1 season at Natchitoches Central, 1 semester at LSU. This will be his 5 school in 6 years. Reminds me of General Axle Booty the walkon QB at Oklahoma. He went to 4 high schools in 4 years in 2 different states, then Junior College for 1 year, then OU. That’s 6 schools in 6 years. That’s stupid ridiculous.

I said earlier and FWIW but I saw the kid in person. If you look at him, you can’t figure out what position he plays and he sure doesn’t look like an offensive lineman. Very nice guy who doesn’t pass the eye test. There’s no way he is as big as they have him listed- 6-4 300.

It was his uncle who played @ LSU.

To be fair to the kid, His dad was the OL coach at all the schools. He came to North DeSoto from Leesville when Dennis Dunn was hired, then moved to Many, then he followed Curtis to be the OL Coach at Natchitoches Central.

Anyone thinking that maybe this was an encouraged decision by the coaches? Doesn't seem like a bad thing for either side. This opens a spot for us to use this year on a D lineman.

High School transfer portal?
Imagine if he'd stay put and get coached up with consistency.

This is a HUGE clarification imo. There's a big difference between running from every challenge or issue and going to the school that your dad works at.

Well his dad was a coach, so…

In reality his dad wanted to work w/ Coach Curtis at Many & followed him to NCHS, so my 1st post was a little misleading. But the fact is in 3 1/2 years of high school he was at 3 schools & he will be at his 2nd college in 6 months.

Can NIL be a contractual obligation to stay on the roster/enrolled through the specific season?

Didn't a player burn Iowa recently after pocketing NIL money to transfer and then turned around and got back in the portal?

Cryer has received an offer from UNLV since entering the portal.

Apparently you don't keep up with these kinds of things.

Technically, NIL is not supposed to be linked to playing, just an agreement between player and business. However, we all know how it is going, and any restrictions will bring more lawsuits just like the "sit out rule".

toothpaste is out of the tube, no way you're getting it back in.

18 year old college players have more "power" than NFL players.

Looking at his offer list, it seems he did not have many offers from top tier schools.

Saying “something terrible happened” is a wild conjecture based on nothing.

In reality, the guy saw he wouldn’t have a path to get meaningful game reps this year because LSU has some hosses on the OL two-deep in front of him and—can’t blame a guy for wanting to get in the field in the fall.

That’s the report from Shea Dixon.
