Team era isn’t great LINK

A&M definitely wasn't happy with their pitching the last 2 years. But there could be several reasons for that. This is probably still a really good hire

Plenty of coaches are better assistants than being head coaching material. Are you asking this as if the topic is some great mystery?

When Jay left zona, his name was in the running for Jays replacement.

He probably gets wrongly blamed for what one of his pitcher’s did or didn’t do when they were 14 years old.

Maybe only wants one of a handful of jobs. Look at Wes. He had a choice of college jobs. Being head man at a career killer isnt the best way to go for every one

He did an amazing job with their pitching staff the first season. I think they were frustrated with last season but shite is a rebuilding process. His job at oregon state says enough.

Hopefully he’s a great career assistant or can give us 3-4 steady years.

Anyone see the SEC rant thread about Floyd possibly transferring to UGA?

Maybe he doesn’t have the personality of a head coach?

You’re throwing your arms up over lsu hiring a proven assistant because he hasn’t been immediately poached. Can’t you be happy lsu hired a legitimate assistant who might not fit the bill of head coach? Kevin Steele was a dip shite head coach but a proven coordinator.

Some people are meant to be well compensated assistants

Good hire. Knows the league and what it takes to win in the SEC, knows Jay.

Not necessarily directed at you but why do we continue to criticize and critique assistant coach selections? Our coaches have shown that they are adults who know how to run a program. Stop trying to find every minute detail that could disqualify assistants.

Jay knows what he is doing.

That’s fricking dumb. He’s either going to go pro or stick it out. He will lose more money going back for a year for one more season with Wes. His family must have frick you money to do that because he’s either going to get paid or lose hundreds of thousands for one year at UGA to make a regional and still lose his leverage

Your framing of the posts are complete scrutiny of the hire in a rhetorical way.

“But why is he not a head coach yet” is supposed to be even a fairly optimistic take? You sound like a skeptic and you’re entitled to your own opinion but own up to the post
