This. I said it when he was with the team, when he was cut, and when he was reinstated. His plate discipline is unparalleled.

Reid was cut because old Paul is the coach. We have Broussard and Hughes who will never hit top caliber pitching. Oh wait. We kept Mofitt. I guess the Paul supporters want me to believe Lsu can't find a better player or pitcher than him. 9 runs given up in one inning in intersquad game.

But when it comes time to cut you go with the higher ceiling as opposed to the non-athlete who walks a lot.

What gives you the idea that the Kirsch kid ever showed he could be a better player than Reid? Because he was the last infielder on the fall roster, rather than Reid.

Okay, as a source closer to this situation than I can promise ANYONE else in this thread is, I will clarify a few points.

Reid never
-Told PM to F himself, if you have ever met Reid you would know how unlikely this is.
-Spoke of transferring. His plan was to always finish out at LSU.

Reid was awarded a partial scholarship. Baseball rarely gives out full because there is so little money to go around.

Reid batted .330ish in SEC play his freshman year once he was awarded the starting spot.

I’m not sure anyone can reasonably say that Hal Hughes has panned out to be the prospect that he was expected to be. He hits the ball with the force of a wet noodle and doesn’t look much quicker than Reid. Dugas is most likely out for the year at this point, I do not see him getting a lot of playing time once he finally recovers halfway through the season.

I’m not sure where ANY rumors of attitude issues began, considering that Reid is very possibly the most positive person I know. Players on last years team remarked how well he took the fact that he was beat out fair and square.

So I’ll keep cheering for the unathletic kid that to some of you say can’t hit, is slow, and unmotivated. Go Tigers!

Thank you.
They conveniently skip over Tirsch, and that is the key here.

Reid is a guy that gets overlooked because nothing he does really pops. He’s not going to put on a show in BP, and he’s never going to wow you with his glove while taking infield.

What he does do is constantly have great at-bats (he’s got the best plate vision on the team), drops the barrel on the ball more often than not, gets on base at a high rate and makes all the routine plays.

The legend of the short, chubby, non-conformist, spectacle wearing St. Micheal alum continues to grow.

Has a smoking hot gf too

Let's see if Mofffit pitches in a meaningful sec situation. I think not.

So many newcomers with talent aren’t panning out as fast as the coaches thought I guess. On paper Reid doesn’t hit for much power and he’s pretty slow. BUT he has the best eye and approach at the plate of anyone on the team. His defense is solid, but not better than Hughes. I was really sad to see Reid cut, but figured it was for the best. Looks like he won’t let anyone forget about him.

TLDR his OBP is sky-high and his fielding pct is serviceable.

His obp was great his first year too. He was just overlooked by the staff. Sad that he even got cut. Now he is getting another chance that he deserves to start, just as he did as a freshmen.

You need guys like Moffit for weeks with two midweek games. If we had needed to use Fontenot on Tuesday or Wednesday night he wouldnt have been able to pitch 5 innings yesterday. Moffit helped contribute to our wins yesterday

It has to do with decisions being made off of commitments.

A coach makes the assessment. If he is wrong I don’t like the ability to just ditch the kid.

The kids know ahead of time. You are trying to hold the coach's to a commitment that was never there and was expressly explained otherwise.

Bianco will improve as he gets a lot more college at bats. He is way behind the rest of the gang though in terms of hitting college pitching.

It’s a shame that the only way he can get on base is getting beaned.

He's gotta develop some plate discipline.
