We’re talking about a state that has more pigs than people.

Expectations should be very low.

You bastard! back to therapy for me.

I have a really good friend that is Iowa through and through. 2 degrees, his kids go there, season tickets for basketball and football. I'm going to give him a couple of days to cool off.

Aren’t the things being said about Reese post game proving her point? I can’t blame her for her post game comments; some of that stuff was racist af. I don’t think she’s just crying racism.

Exactly. I'm sure she gets comments on Twitter and the like are just like this all the time.

I am right there with you. It’s like they refuse to say “r” and they mispronounce normal words like aluminum. Windshield is windscreen, car hood is a bonnet. It’s just goes in and on with the snobbery and accent. And although it annoys my family, I put subtitles on because I don’t have a clue what they are saying.

I know what you mean. We lived in north Iowa the year of that game. People that I knew who never called my house, called after that game. None of those idiots wanted to discuss Jeremy Hill when we met them a second time. IOWA gateway to Illinois. Also stands for Idiots Out Walking Around.

First of all, there are a lot of British accents. But second, do you realize that the English invented the English language. They are the ones who speak it without an accent. You guys crack me up sometimes.

Everyone thinks they don't have an accent, and other people are weird. For example, I say "apple-at-cha" and "flah-ri-duh." Others don't pronounce "Appalachia" or "Florida" that way.

Actually, the U.S. southern accent is closer to Shakespeare than the current British accent.

This is baloney. For one thing there is no such thing as a British accent. There are a lot of accents in Great Britain. There is the Geordie accent in Newcastle, Scottish accents, Irish ones, Cockney, a Midlands accent, and a POSH London accent to name a few that I’m familiar with.

The British didn't start speaking with the current "British" accent until the 1700s. Until then, English people spoke English like Americans.

quote:

So what’s popularly believed to be the classic British English accent isn’t actually so classic. In fact, British accents have undergone more change in the last few centuries than American accents have – partly because London, and its orbit of influence, was historically at the forefront of linguistic change in English. As a result, although there are plenty of variations, modern American pronunciation is generally more akin to at least the 18th-Century British kind than modern British pronunciation.

BBC Link "How Americans Preserved British English"

Brits started speaking the way they do now in an effort to sound more "posh". It's all a pathetic affectation to appear upper-class that just stuck.

That's actually not true. There is a reason why British people sound American when they sing. Its because singing removes accents.

Would love nothing more than Clark at LSU. But it isn't going to happen. She is getting paid plenty and is an Iowa girl for life. Loves that lifestyle and all that cornpone.
Can you see her in BR with hot sauce, crawfish and Angel?
