He was a top recruit & if I remember correctly LSU was lucky that he didn’t sign with a pro team. He was supposed to compete to be a weenie d starter.

According to who?

Nothing happened to him. His rating was based on what his ceiling looks like 5 years from now.

I just remember JJ was sorta holding his breath that the kid didn’t sign with the pro’s.

That's very different than expecting him to come in and be a weekend starter immediately. Which is the part I questioned you about.

Pros draft high school kids on potential. And when they draft high school kids they aren’t expecting them to be day one starters.

Give him a summer leagueand fall before next season. I think all these freshman will get much better.

The recruiting rankings are based on potential in College or pros. Its my understanding they are working on becoming more consistent in the called area over plate and mechanics. That way he can work more innings pitched at a high level safely. Or atleast, thats what I took from CJJs statements.

He'll be really good soon enough.

Dude is a true freshman in the SEC. Can't expect him to come in and be Paul Skenes right away. I mean damn, give him a year.

If his baseball brain ever catches up to his body, he will be outstanding. Patience, Grasshopper.

He is left handed and can throw heat.

He’s just a little wild right now. which isn’t crazy at this point.

If they spend a summer tightening up his motion like Moffit he will be really good in the next couple of years.

I think he’s just got too much going on which throws him off

He and Moffett both have control issues
Harness that and both will have bright futures
Pitchers that can touch 100 are still very rare
Both live in the upper 90's
Mechanics and mastering additional pitches will determine how far they can go

I just assumed he would be a one inning during mid week and one or two batter on the weekend type guy during year one. Year two would more middle relief or mid week starter at being of year and possibly Sunday starter by end. Stil super young and super talented.

His last few outings have been much better. You can see the improvement. He’s young and has a lot of power behind his legs. Once he can control his pitches and command his secondary pitches he’s gonna be unreal. Look at Griffin second year.
