Adam, longhi had tweeted after the draft that he has a tough decision to make. What % chance do u give him to end up at lsu?
90/10 he's at LSU.
Only way he doesn't make it to campus would be him completely low balling his pre draft signing bonus demands and inking for well under 200k, or the possible JUCO route while trying to improve his draft stock drastically in one year.
18 year olds are ecstatic to just hear their name called. If anyone remembers Cody Glenn, he made a tweet days after he was selected in the 15th round two years ago pondering his tough decision. Longhi is not going to get near the bonus pool amount where he was selected to where he graded out talent wise.

Aaronb023, that is an awesome gif of the Hillbilly kid crying. As someone living up here, I take great pride when LSU can invoke tears from the swine faithful!

I am concerned with the big loss of pitching.
Eades was a Saturday/Sunday starter.
After two consecutive seasons of inconsistency, especially on the back end of seasons, this is not a big concern to me. I hope he does great in the future, but there is plenty of talent to lessen the impact of losing him.

We had some very talented kids not even pitch this year.
Guys always step up. Our recruiting has been great the last few years

Who will be the leaders of this team next year? Obviously bregs, but losing katz, rhymes, jones, cotton, and probably ross could hurt. Hopefully guys like ibarra, nola, foster etc will step up (vocally)

Bregman, Ibarra, Nola, McMullen. There's always a couple freshmen who are more mature than their age.

Bregman obviously. I actually think Moore could have some leadership abilities. He's a seasoned veteran, just needs to find a place to anchor down and get in a rhythm. Laird needs to grow up quick and help and foster being a former QB is a possibility. Maybe Ibarra, don't know much about his temperament.
I never saw rhymes as a big leader type guy. Seemed kinda quiet to me. Katz will be very hard to replace. He had the stats and leadership qualities.

Poche the younger brother of Colin Poche?

If Laird plays next year like he did towards the end of this year and especially during the tournies this year, he may be All-Sec honorable.

Boston signed their first round pick today and have managed to save over 700k in their bonus pool so far. Along with Longhi they drafted two other highly rated players outside of the top 10 rounds who slipped due to injury/signability.
If they choose to spend all of the savings one on of those players they could offer over 800k. Longhi was taken well after the other two. Hopefully they approach them with the offer first and one of them accepts.
Latz was mentioned earlier in the thread, he is a 2014 commitment and will not be on the team next year.

Adam, et al - thanks so much for the info. Very appreciated.
No time better than now to start a run for Omaha 2014!

Laird is draft eligible next summer. If he improves over this year and shows some power I wouldn't put money on him seeing his junior year. They way MLB evaluates talent he could go in the top 5 rounds. He looks like a star in the making. Great swing, great speed, great glove.

shows some power
Big if there....but you are right if he can get some RBI's and show some power to the gaps he could go next year....if he keeps his average in the .330 range.

We have a big freshman class coming in. There are roster limits. Which freshman players you think will end up in JUCO or somewhere else? Also which current players will be asked to leave the program? I am not sure what the numbers look like but I know we can't keep all current players and commitments. Every year there is natural attrition.

Laird's summer on the Cape will go a long way in determining his future draft outlook. Athleticism, speed and defense are definitely there. If he can handle the transition to the wood bat this summer, he may have a decision to make after next season.

Pitching should be wonderful next season

I'm not going to list names on who I don't think will make the cut but it will roughly be at least 3-4.

I think 1 of possibly Sciambra, Foster, and Laird/Stevenson may seek other opportunities if they don't win a starting job.
You always lose a pitcher or two every year.

This year will be different. It's hard to even predict.
