I’d completely understand both sitting. But man that would be sweet to see them play until the record is broken.

Nabors is just 21 yards short of LSU's record for career receiving yards, currently held by Josh Reed.

Did the article spell his name wrong as well? It’s amazing the season and career that Josh Reed had considering the passing game even under Rohan wasn’t going to be as prolific as today’s game. Nabers wouldn’t be close to the record if not for a dumb technicality that during Reeds day, they don’t include bowl game statistics.

Damn man. You will enjoy life a whole lot more if you can separate social and political flashpoints in our society from the actual real people that live out their normal lives in a day to day basis.

I’m very political but I agree with that. I’ll bet only a few players on that team care about politics.

I forgot who was talking about this, but a great point was made. Is a player really going to go through all the pregame stress and anxiety, warmups, etc. just to play a few downs?

Why would Daniels play? Couldn’t Nuss just throw to Nabers?

Same can be said for many players well before bowl season.

man I’d hate for them to get a Marcus Lattimore injury this close to going pro in a meaningless bowl game

Lattimore had multiple injuries and how often does an injury like that occur? Chad Jones has injured in a car accident should they not drive anywhere either?

Todd Gurley blew out his knee in November he was the 10th pick in the draft. The tape on these guys done, the work outs / combine doesn’t make that much difference unless their work out is horrible

I said this months ago. He will play get the yards and sit.

Nope. This would not fit with the culture and team mind set that Kelly is building.

Jake Butt basically ended his career playing in a bowl. This is her perspective (Via t'Athletic)

quote:

Especially in football, generalities typically don’t work, especially for situations like this. People look at one small sliver of the decision: “Hey, you’re screwing over your team by not playing.” “Hey, you’re sitting out and saving yourself millions of dollars.” That is the surface of this decision.

I tore my ACL in a bowl game. I lost a lot of money by falling in the draft. It didn’t stop there. Since I was injured outside of the NFL, I did not get a credited season my rookie year. I did not get benefits my rookie year. I was not part of league insurance my rookie year. I made split salary, which was a six-figure reduction in my salary.

Those credited seasons count toward your pension. They didn’t give me a 401K match, which is almost $30,000. Your total net loss is going to be probably a quarter-million dollars if you get hurt and are not able to play your rookie season.

For me, I don’t regret playing. I understand there’s a long game in life, and I always knew there was going to be life after football. Yeah, I lost money, but I have a massive respect and love here at the University of Michigan. That is something money can’t buy.

Other people don’t see it that way. There are a lot of guys who play football, and football is all they have. Let them make that decision for themselves.

Firstly they are making that decision. No one here has any control over it. Second yes people should offer advice when someone is making a big decision. Third what do you expect him to say? Of course you try not to live in regret and let things go. What's done is done. I bet if you asked him what advice he would give to his younger self if given that ability he would say not to play.
