That was my last race as well. Got free tickets to the race, pits and Jeff Gordon’s pre race tent through DuPont. Was fun. Was big Tony Stewart fan I can appreciate both Kyle Bush’s and Brad Keslowskis talent.

He should at least be in the Championship 4 IMO.

I expect a big bounce back for Chase, also.

I’m still trying to decide which drivers I like. Maybe the Netflix show will help.

Silly Season moves:
4 - Josh Berry replaces a retired Kevin Harvick
10 - Noah Gragson replaces a retired Aric Almirola (part time Xfinity)
15 - Kaz Grala will get the bulk of the schedule with drivers like Cody Ware and Riley Herbst filling the rest.
16 - AJ Allmendinger will run select races in this car. So will Josh Williams. Rest is TBD.
31 - Daniel Hemric replaces Justin Haley
42 - John Hunter Nemechek replaces Noah Gragson
51 - Justin Haley replaces the rotating lineup.
60 - RFK's Project91 so to speak. Will see this car run with another Aussie driver, Cam Waters, in a few races this year.
71 - Zane Smith will run a 3rd Spire car with Trackhouse support.
77 - Carson Hocevar replaces Ty Dillon
78 - scales back to part-time.
97 - Likely the number for Shane Van Gisbergen's Cup starts.

Seats to watch:
2 - Cindric's dad is the team president, but how long will Roger watch the flagship car be mediocre?
3 - I believe Austin Dillon retires after this season.
10 - Will Noah prove himself worthy? I also expect Stewart-Haas to sell a charter after this year.
11 - Hamlin is getting up there in age.
15/16 - Will these cars end up with FT drivers in 25?
19 - I expect Truex to retire after this year.
21 - Harrison Burton is not Cup material.
38 - A good year from Gilliland could bump him up the ranks. Especially with the Penske alliance.
41 - Same as the 10 with the charter situation.
42 - When Truex retires, JHN will move to Gibbs and resurrect the 18.
47 - Been exploring selling their charter for a while.
71 - Does this become the third Trackhouse car?
99 - If Suarez has a down year, does he get the boot?

Other notes of interest:
67 for 23XI - Could see this car run multiple races this year. Kobayashi is likely to come back, along with maybe more Toyota drivers.

Brodie Kostecki - Supercar champ from last year - just quit his supercars team. Wonder if he comes to America with SVG?

Remember when there was a Speedweeks? Now it’s like Speed 4-5 days.

I was super fortunate that when I was younger, I was able to attend Speed Weeks as a kid. I got to see:

Goodys Dash Series
ARCA Series
IROC Series
Busch Grand National
Winston Cup Series

I went to just about all the practice and qualifying sessions, and got to see all the races. It was an epic time in 1993 for a kid who loved racing. Now Daytona Speed Weeks is a mere whimper of what it was. Also, NASCAR weakened it even more by moving the Clash to that shite show in LA.

He's a little young to think about retiring. But OTOH he already has more money than he knows what to do with so maybe?

He's 42. That is still prime age for top-tier drivers.(And he is, no matter what we think of him)I expect that he has another 4-5 years IMO.

Agree.

While I agree, Once a driver hits 41, it warrants the discussion.

Austin Dillon was rumored to be considering retirement last year. He's rumored to move into a management role. How else was Childress able to hang onto Austin Hill for the Xfinity Series? I expect him to be the heir to the car. (Not the number. I expect the 3 to get renumbered if Dillon isn't driving.)

Fair. But a driver of Hamlin's caliber can remain championship competitive into his mid-40's..See Harvick, Dale, Sr.among others.

I don’t think drivers are going to drive until they’re pushing or over 50 anymore.

Maybe I’m just making this up, but I feel like I heard something recently about him wanting to get more into the management/team operation side of things. With Richard getting older, someone is going to have to take over running RCR eventually.

You're not making it up. Austin is the reason Kyle Busch ended up at RCR. Austin is far from a likable driver to me, but he's had a respectable run. 4 wins are more than over 100 race winners in Cup. Only 85 drivers have won more races than him. He's had a career better than at least 75% of all Cup drivers.

Supposed to rain that day. The heat races are Saturday, so that portion should be able to avoid the rain.

Back in the day, each manufacturer got Daytona for a couple of days of testing in December or January. Always good for early looks at new teams and a lot of publicity for the sport.

Just pointing out the wins. If he wasn't kin to Childress he'd have been gone by now.
