Former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is likely going to be considered for several vacant NFL head coaching positions this winter, but it appears he's targeting a certain type of team for his next opportunity.

Belichick has already interviewed for the Atlanta Falcons head coaching vacancy, and ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported Tuesday on SportsCenter that the six-time Super Bowl-winning head coach is interested in coaching "talented, yet underachieving teams" and that "Atlanta probably falls in that category."

Fowler said:

"We were hearing for a while that the Falcons were interested and so now I'm hearing that there is mutual interest between the Falcons and Belichick. To what extent? Still unclear. But enough for them to meet in person with owner Arthur Blank talking to Belichick, hashing out what their vision might be for that program for a team that's really a quarterback away. I was told from the beginning that Belichick would likely target talented, yet underachieving teams. Atlanta probably falls in that category."

Well, this is what Brady did to get himself another SB so maybe it’ll work for Belichick too.

Isn’t this what every new coach wants?

Most coaches don't have the cachet to be able to pick whatever gig they want.

I mean “talented” is the key word and it disqualifies the Falcons

What’s the confusion?

The article specifically mentions Atlanta is in the mix with mutual interest. I guess that’s the confusion.

We have an extremely talented roster. That's why the coach got fired. If we had any other starting QB in the league not named Bryce Young we would be in the playoffs.

The sports media consensus on Atlanta is that they have a very talented and young roster that just needs direction and a qb

What direction would you see BB going at QB?

I don't want Belichik as my HC but probably Drake Maye.

ETA: I like the idea of Slowik and Daniels

Falcons have a talented roster, it’s the coach and QB that were the main problem. Wouldn’t hurt to grab another pass rusher too though

Falcons were a competent QB away from going 12-5. That’s how bad their QB play was.

He has to interview? How long was that when he walks in with 6 rings on his hand as a six-fingered man?
