Congrats again to Reggie.

Best college football player to ever play, IMO.

How? By running a lax program that wanna be sports agents had access to players? College isn't Prison, you can't control what players do all the time. The agents who wanted to sign Bush gave his Dad the house TWO years AFTER Bush was already at USC playing ball.

So he got back the Heisman for statistics that aren't even officially in the books anymore.

This is where it is going to be fun looking back at these things.

One of the most overrated players this century. He had holes 7 ft wide to run through constantly.

Yahoo sports who drove the story and broke the story is at it again....

Reggie Bush getting his Heisman Trophy back is a bad look for college football |

quote:

In other words, Reggie got his award back Wednesday because that was then and this is now and today everything is totally different.

And that’s a mistake.

Why?

Because it’s precedent-setting. Just because amateurism is dead now doesn’t mean it was dead then.

LINK

Uh, yeah it was. I've posted before it was a fact that Notre Dame players got paid in the 1920s and half weren't even real students.

Billy Cannon signed and got paid by an agent before his Heisman year ended. Fact.

Yahoo sports has had some weird hard-on for USC for so many years....but nobody sniffs around Bama...hmm?

ESPN's Ted Miller, who wrote, "It's become an accepted fact among informed college football observers that the NCAA sanctions against USC were a travesty of justice, and the NCAA's refusal to revisit that travesty are a massive act of cowardice on the part of the organization

quote:

During a flight delay last year, I was cornered at an airport by an administrator from a major program outside the Pac-12. He made fun of me as a "USC fanboy" because of my rants against the NCAA ruling against the Trojans. But we started talking. Turned out he agreed with just about all my points. (He just didn't like USC.)

He told me, after some small talk and off-the-record, that "everybody" thought USC got screwed. He said that he thought the NCAA was trying to scare everyone with the ruling, but subsequent major violations cases put it in a pickle.

Then he told me that USC was punished for its "USC-ness," that while many teams had closed down access — to media, to fans, etc. — USC under Pete Carroll was completely open, and that was widely resented. There was a widespread belief the national media fawned on USC because of this. Further, more than a few schools thought that the presence of big-time celebrities, such as Snoop Dogg and Will Ferrell, at practices and at games constituted an unfair recruiting advantage for the Trojans.

It should've never been taken away but what he did is still against the rules even in the wild west now.

The deal is, its been how many years? ...And the USC Reggie Bush story has never been accurately reported..... No one read the NCAA report which never claimed or alleged that USC ever paid or had boosters pay Bush.

The penalty, which was absurd is based on Pete Carroll didn't run a tight ship and should've known that Bush was being poached by agents and hanger-ons and the NCAA hated they were going to Hollywood parties.

USC paid nobody.

It was the outside, world if you actually read the report. USC was severely punished for not babysitting players and putting them on lockdown to shield them from predators.
