He was in a car right behind Clarke. That has to be absolutely traumatizing

I've seen the video...they were clearly racing. Clarke had to be going 100+mph. Very sad.

Not being a dick. Being brutally honest. His jackass driving could have killed the person he hit because he was clearly street racing. I have no sympathy for drunk drivers or just dangerously driving fools on the roads. Doesn’t matter who you are. Unfortunately for Clarke, he learned the hard way there might not be do overs when it comes to vehicles at high speeds.

If that's the case, why is it sad? frick em. He could have killed someone else being an idiot. Luckily it was just himself.

This link has the video early in it.

It's not a long video, but shows the Clarke car speeding through the intersection, brushing the front of the pickup truck, slamming into the concrete wall, bouncing off the concrete wall with the front crushed, a wheel spinning into the intersection and other car parts flying.

Sympathy has its place. So does reality. Most who see that video may feel anger at the way that car was driven, endangering all who were in its sphere of influence.

Idiotic decisions usually don’t turn out well.

Am I surprised a 19 year old did some dumb shite? No. I would be willing to bet a good chunk of us did dumb shite in our teens and early 20s that could’ve gotten ourselves and others killed in hindsight. Did I ever do what he did? No. But I’m not going to be a hypocrite in my judgement of it either.

It doesn’t make it any less tragic. He had his whole life ahead of him. The kid lit up a room when he was in it. The people close to him will be hurting for a very long time. Some won’t ever get passed it (you never truly get over something like that). The fact he died like he did, just makes all of that hurt ten times worse because it was preventable.

Yeah, video shows he was being an a-hole. A 2000 lb object moving at that speed is as dangerous as any weapon.

I get what you're saying but most people didn't do what he did. This doesn't change the tragedy in anyway as I'm sure he wasn't thinking he would hurt anyone much less himself. But there are different levels of stupidity.

It's a terrible shame, and I hate that he did that and it ended the way he did. I can't imagine how Boston feels as it appears they were either street racing or at least trying to see how fast they could go.

Glad no innocent person was injured. What a waste.
