That 1997 team was loaded with guards, but it also had a big man from Louisiana. Similar to Saban's Alabama teams.

Guards: Mike Bibby, Jason Terry & Miles Simon

Eugene Edgerson Eugene Edgerson from St. Aug

Arizona has won a national title. Gonzaga on the other hand, plays the weakest conference competition year in and year out and has nothing to show for it after having their knobs slobbed every season by the media.
it’s pretty damn hard to win the NCAA tourney outside of UCONN, DUKE, North Carolina, Kansas& Florida what school has won it multiple times this millennium? Zags have avoided the 1st weekend upset for 9 straight years which is pretty incredible. They have 2 finals fours and have made the championship game in both trips and they are just now starting to attract real blue chip players to their program, not a bad resume for a small Jesuit college that doesn’t have the funding like some of these power 5 schools.

I was in 7th grade when they won the natty and I loved that team. It was one of the only times I hopped on a bandwagon. I made my mom buy me a white Arizona tee from champs sports and played Bball in that thing every day.

They have made 35 of the last 38 tournaments and had a pretty legit run from 88-01 with 4 Final Fours and a title. Built a brand name.

So what happened in 2005 has absolutely zero to do with what happened in 2024

I didn’t say it did.

I said they haven’t gotten past that since

Enjoy coach Blockhead year 3. Maybe you’ll get to the second round of the NIT. frick LSU

Of course it's not a bad resume, but Gonzaga is not some poor little overachieving mid-major either. Their first #2 seed was 20 years ago. Their first #1 seed was over a decade ago. They spend more on basketball than most power conference programs. They're supposed to be good.

That's why people are critical of them for "only" having two Final Fours and two of the worst title game performances ever. The Sweet Sixteen streak is great, but their last 5 tournament losses have still technically been as the higher seed.

I'm not trying to hate on Gonzaga, but every year we're told they're a legit Final Four or national championship contender, then they lose in March, and their biggest defenders revert back to, "look at what they've accomplished over the years for a small private school."

I honestly DGAF about LSU basketball or basketball in general for that matter, so not sure where this came from

You got called out for saying some ignorant, irrelevant shite that made no sense and you couldn’t handle it. It’s okay bro, it’s not that serious

No, you said they ‘haven’t been the same since’. No shite, they are a different team every single year. Plus that was almost 20 years ago so it has absolutely ZERO input on 2024
