At least the 80's series had the good taste to make Fuji hotter than Mariko.

Blackthorne and Buntaro about to go scorched earth for their Bae.
Will say I wanted to see if Blackthorne would have chopped her head off.

This show is so awesome

As will Toranaga, but then this appears to all be part of the plan

Why did she all of the sudden have feelings for Anjin again?

Was it because he was going to "allow" her to be free (by being her second)? Or was it because she realized that supuku isn't as black and white as she'd thought?

I dont think her feelings ever stopped.
She had to conceal it because of Buntaro coming back. JMO

And her death that she had been seeking for many years finally met her swiftly and with purpose.

Can’t wait for Blackthorne and Toranaga to wreck these fools.

I think he legitimately would’ve been her second. At that point, she would be dead anyone. Being the second is just to not prolong the suffering. He wouldn’t have watched her suffer in that situation.

It’s been interesting to see Blackthorne’s immersion into Japanese culture and him gaining respect for certain parts of their society.

She didn’t want to commit suicide but putting a blade through her heart would have been the same, no matter if someone cuts off your head before actual death. Her actual death at least served a purpose.

He would have, but women samurai weren't allowed to have a second. They also didn't kill themselves the way the movie was portraying. They slit their own throats.

So is this the only season of this show? I'm not familiar with the book so didn't know if the next episode would be the end or not.

Where is Fuji? She’s kinda disappeared from the storyline a little

I thought it was going to happen, but I'm still chapped Mariko is gone. Also, got tricked with Crimson Sky title of episode. This was not a happy ending.

Her having a second is apparently true to the original text (it was someone different who stepped in as her second in the book, I don’t want to spoil that for folks who may want to read later).

I have never read the book, so the last episode was jaw dropping for me. When Mariko was about to kill herself...i was screaming "No way...no fricking way"...and then Ishido comes in and i was like "whewwww"...and then they play with my emotions and turn right around and kill her anyway. First Hiromatsu..and now Mariko...Lord Toranaga and Blackthorne are gonna frick some shite up...and i cannot wait!!

This show better clean up at the Emmy's!!!!

I think Fuji is about to make a huge comeback...now that Mariko is unfortunately gone. Maybe we get a Fuji redemption side story from her as well?

Yeah, they were definitely allowed to have seconds.

It just wasn't as necessary. They did do the dagger to the heart, but they put the dagger against the ground pointing up and fell on it with all of their weight on their heart. So just a more immediately/guaranteed lethal way of doing it rather than slicing your belly which could take a long time to actually die from.
