Bhanu was more stable.

Q will act like it was some incredible planned move although I’m not sure it changed much. I think Tevin believed it was all an act by the players to make him feel safe so he could get blindsided.

Charlie and Maria seem to be the tightest “ride or die” duo in the game now.

Q is great entertainment. He’s awful at the game, but he’s funny as hell.

This is a cast full of awful players but it is entertaining anyway.

It also blows my mind how people can watch seasons of this show and then get to the island and still act so arrogantly. Venus, Tevin, Q … how have you not watched people in the past act so confidently only to realize they were the fools in the end.

Also both Venus and Q acting like they were gathering crucial intel during hide and seek gave me a good chuckle.

i really wish they had taken him up on his offer and voted him out.

and offers to sit out of challenge. then lasts 17 seconds. tries to play it off " no one was gonna beat hunter".

so arrogantly. Venus, Tevin, Q

it's the "that'll never happen to me" mentality.

Yep. Winners have a healthy amount of skepticism about all the other players but don't let it turn into paranoia. They consistently listen and are as concerned about reading the room as they are driving the vote.

I always say that if I was on the show, I would be extremely boring. I would always assume that I am wrong about people and would never have a confident thing to say.

I like how Tiff is playing. You can tell she has her emotions in check and says a lot of things that make sense. The one in particular that I am thinking about is Venus. Q wants to get rid of Venus, but he never asked why. I think the key to winning is putting your emotions and preferences aside for 20 days. Is someone bothering the shite out of the entire tribe? Keep that person as long as possible.

the number of people going home with idols is crazy. This one shows just being good at 1 part of the game just isn't enough. Should have played his idol but, let the girls play him.

Q is annoying AF and should have gone home twice.

Tiff played it smart. everyone knew she had an idol, told everyone she was playing the idol then didn't. She could be the favorite.

Problem is Charlie and Maria are a tight team and can both win comps. No one else really has a reliable alliance.

I was sad to see Hunter go but realistically he didn’t have much of a chance to win since his success was primarily in challenges. He didn’t have much of a social game and didn’t seem to drive strategies. In top of that, he was allied with Q and didn’t have a backup plan.

Q is now a goat in the game but he thinks he can win. He has no chance but will vote as he’s told just to get to the final tribal. Venus has a better chance of winning than Q if the right backstabbing takes place and people grudge vote for Venus. No shot and long shot.

To be fair, I'm pretty sure Venus and Kenzie both voted Q. He was played by Maria, Charlie, Ben and Tiffany (maybe I'm misremembering). I'm bummed Hunter is out, he was a good player but shouldn't have told anyone about the idol, which is such a common mistake. He's a logical player who got caught up in the moment, thought he could keep the idol and last another day and got greedy. Playing the idol with no one realizing would have still made a big impact and sometimes you just need to survive.

He should've just quit if he was being serious and not asked people to vote for him. Now he'll probably make it all the way to the final three because he'll be a zero vote finalist. Also, a former athlete asking competitors to throw a challenge?

Bingo. Hate that Hunter is gone but he should’ve played his idol. A lot of weak mouths left, not that interesting anymore but I’ll still watch. Q and Venus are probably some of the dumbest players ever. No chance whatsoever for them.

Hunter had two of the three of

- Ability to win comps
- Likable
- Instinct

He was missing instinct. Kenzie came to you hours earlier ready to backstab her top ally. Should’ve have been immediate flags that this woman can’t be trusted. He then asks Liz who she is voting and Charlie almost immediately (at least how it was edited) tells her “say Q.” Should have set off more alarm bells.

This wasn’t the only spot Hunter showed his weakness from a strategic standpoint. He tanked his game trying to save Tevin.

Hunter was the guy I was pulling for, but he just wasn’t very good from a strategic standpoint.

Looks like Liz will have a big meltdown tomorrow. Can't wait. She has been slowly losing her mind the last few episodes.

I could be misremembering, but I thought Kenzie voted for Q. They made it seem like Hunter got tricked by all the people he was asking "who are you voting for" during tribal, but most did not vote for him.

I haven’t posted in the season thread yet, but have watched every episode. You can certainly tell a difference in the casting on earlier seasons compared to now.

I just watched Season 2 on HULU as I was too young to watch this season live. You had 3-4 ridiculously good looking girls. You had 3 or so typical huge athletic white males. Hell Mike was out there killing boars and skinning them. I liked the season a lot, but the gameplay, alliances, tribal councils, blindsides are much better now. I chalk that up to it being Season 2, and the contestants, weren’t 100% sure of how to play the game just yet from a strategic standpoint.

Last season was a great season. The casting has gone down, but Survivor is still one of my favorite shows of all time.

How Q is still in this game befuddles me. I have been pulling for Venus to stay, for the soul purpose of she’s the only good eye candy to look at. Moria and Charlie are playing great games. Ben is a genuine person. Kenzie seems the same way, and I admired how she told Q to kick rocks last episode. I will be shocked if Charlie or Moria doesn’t win the game.

If I was betting on a final 3, I would say these 2 drag Q to the final 3 with them. Then it's a battle of what member of the duo can argue more coherently.

yeah a lot of game play has evolved over the years. In season 1 Hatch was the only one actually forming an alliance and playing the game.

Season 2 had Colby dominating a lot of challenges but, of course made a crucial mistake choosing who to take to the finale.

Players started learning from those seasons and figuring out that it took being good at more than just one aspect of the game.

at some point the casting went to shite and production started getting too involved in controlling the outcome. Same with Big Brother.

I think that the Survivor and Big Brother casting issues are different, but they both need work.

With Survivor, almost everyone they cast nowadays is more interested in the idea of being on the show and being in the "Survivor community" instead of winning the million dollars. This leads to plenty of contestants completely out of their depth either physically or mentally and too many of the dorky "super fan" contestants that survivor thinks we want to see a lot of, but don’t. And almost everyone just seems to want to get on the Rob Has a Podcast circuit. These factors are what makes players like Shan, Rocksroy, Jesse, Gabler, etc. stand out in the "New Era."

I think that most of the people who apply to Big Brother are more interested in being influencers than they are of winning the money. And the show is all about growing their brand and setting up what's next, like Jared or Blue last season on Big Brother. Clearly just there so their influencer careers take off.

That's why, whenever I apply to these shows, not that I will ever get on, I emphasize I'm not applying to revive my dormant Instagram account and I have enough friends in my life, I'm here for the money.

Kenzie et al knew Hunter was the target but split the votes because of his idol. Q's vote for Ben was his move out of loyalty to Hunter or a play for Hunter jury vote.

I think Jeff doesn't worry about what they think we want to see. Jeff picks folks that he thinks are interesting, quirky, funny, whatever. I don't think he considers their game play. He wants them to be able to "tell a story" about the player. Therefore, we get wasted TV time with Bhanu! Drives me nuts. I don't give a damn about their stories. I want to see competitive play.

BB, well they have every wannabe influencer, TV/movie star, whatever. So tired of them all. I started watching last summer and didn't finish. It wasn't that good.

Completely agree about Jeff. He picks people that he wants to see on TV because of their stories, incorrectly assuming that's what the audience wants. I don't care about their sob stories. Players like Boston Rob, Cirie, Tyson, Russell Hantz, Parvati, etc. don't have sob stories, they're just dynamic personalities and play the game well.

I love Big Brother and the live feeds are terrific, but it's just really hard to keep up with the show over the course of months, given that there are important things happening on the live feeds daily and, even if you just watch the episodes, three nights a week is a huge commitment.

I think the reason you get more wannabe influencers on Big Brother is because it's extremely hard for professionals to take off work for that period of time and most don't want to quit their jobs (must longer than Survivor). So you get more of the "bartender-looking-for-fame" types, as they're the only ones who can financially stomach the time commitment of being away that long.

I think all reality shows are the best when they represent a microcosm of society, though, which I don't think Survivor or Big Brother is doing well. You need a good mixture of blue collared folks, white collared folks, and quirk people. And a smattering of wild cards to mix things up.

Hey Liz,
You CHOSE to go on Survivor knowing you can’t eat anything.
Don’t give us this damn pity party when you haven’t eaten anything since the merge. Maybe you should’ve thought about that!
