Guys I had been told for years “trust me” you gotta hear this guy. About two years ago I did shrooming my arse off. I have not been able to stop listening since.
Find a time to truly listen to the three shows he just did in St. Aug. It is a very good representation for you looking for something that is just simply great music that has some serious talent. The words speak to you.

Dude the soundbar streams are out on nugs already.
Wait a minute during the Friday encore so beautiful.
Really naming one song is such a disservice. It was all incredible.
How about the Floyd to end night 2.
Then away from the mire day three
And Tennessee was awesome also

check out the cover of “reverend” by greensky bluegrass on Friday. Absolute highlight for me was “thunder” last night. As soon as they hit the chorus after the third verse the sky opened up with lightning (and thunder) and it monsooned for the rest of the song. It was fricking crazy in that place. People were losing their minds

Saw him in Nashville earlier this year for the first time. He’s freaking amazing. B MF Strings indeed!

One of my favorites that he does. Had to wait until my 2nd BS show to hear it. Amazing live.

If I could be a trustafarian, I'd do it in a heartbeat... would follow BMFS anywhere he goes.

And that tribute to Dickey Betts... insert the Vince McMahon meme.

thus far this year we've traveled to nashville for 3 shows and st aug for 3 shows. now that we are home, i'm trying to see if a trip to the greek in berkeley is doable in august, and we have plans made to go back to renewal in buena vista in sep.

thankfully for my wallet he'll do NY in nola again

That dude is just fricking magical. I've never gotten into a musician, who's still alive and in their prime, like Billy.

I've gotten so much better at guitar because of that dude. I play Doc Watson, Tony Rice (not that good though), and now Seldom Scene's Wait a Minute.

Here's hoping he'll be back in the southeast for the fall tour.

yeah we are pretty obsessed.
hard to describe to someone who isn’t on the bus…”you are going to see him AGAIN???”

yes, yes I am
and after that, I’m planning the next show

I just went through youtube and gave some stuff a listen. I'm sure he's talented and all, but it's...bluegrass, right?

I guess I have never understood how someone can listen to a whole lot of that genre. I can only take it in small bursts.

What are the primary aspects to be appreciated vs other bluegrass acts? Voice? Technical wizardry? Songwriting? (I'll admit that all bluegrass pretty mush "sounds the same to me".

if you are not predisposed/hardwired to the jamband scene, billy strings isnt going to move the needle for you, probably. if you are though...its the best thing going and maybe ever.

go to a show and see what you think. theres no way you wont have a good time, regardless. its happy music

Our family has been priced out of his shows for now. Hope to catch some shows if he comes back to Lakefront, just probably not NYE itself
