How do you find a good Playlist for a few different genres?

I need to make my own I guess but I'm sure someone out there shares my exact taste.

I want a Playlist with

Metallica
Pearl jam
Zeppelin
Rise against
Blink 182
Billy Joel
Rush
Lynyrd skynyrd
James Taylor
Etc
Etc
Etc

I mean the list goes on and on but I want just the major hits from many different bands

Every Playlist I've tried is the same genre with way too many shitty songs from said genre

You may want to try some tunes by the bands you like that aren't greatest hits type stuff...if you give some of the other people's playlists a few listens, some of the songs you aren't really looking for may just end up catching your ear.

There are lots of great tunes by popular musicians that never were hits, but still fantastic stuff.

Now, if you are creating a playlist for a party or tailgate setting, I get your point...but give some of the non-hits a try--you may end up discovering a few new things.

Find a playlist that's close to what you are looking for, and just add / remove songs that you like as you go. That's the easiest way if you don't want to start from scratch.

For SXSW, I create my own SXSW playlist, but I listen to other SXSW playlists that have every artist's song. If I hear something I like, I add it to my playlist. Eventually, my playlist grows a lot.

Start a radio station with each of your favorite bands/musicians. Then add the songs you like to the playlists you want them on.

Not really an answer to OP's question, but here are some of the playlists I've made that some of y'all may enjoy:

BRASS Cause I like brass bands.

Storytime Songs that tell a story, so close your eyes and listen.

Go there! Inspired by places to travel.

Say My Name Song titles that are someone's name.

Mexico Went to Mexico; made a playlist.

Crawfish Put it on while you boil.

Time The clock is ticking...

Mardi Gras No explanation needed.

Sweet Soul Music Compiled with a LOT of suggestions from other TD Music Board posters.

Then, I also make a bunch of "greatest hits" type of playlists, both for friends and for my own listening. A lot of times I'll be planning on going to a concert, and some of my friends may not know that band or artist. So, I send them a playlist, typically with my "25Picks." If you don't know these artists or have heard only a few of their songs, these are some of my favorite musicians and ones I recommend checking out.

Dispatch
Perpetual Groove
Futurebirds
The Band
Brenton Wood
Dave Matthews Band
CCR
People Under The Stairs
Grateful Dead
Josh Rouse
Levon Helm
Mason Jennings
Brother Ali
Wilco
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Cash Money Records
ALO
Keller Williams
The Revivalists
Lyrics Born
Jackie Greene
Fat Tony

What I have done over the past year or 2 is created my own playlist from all the different ones that i've come across. When I first got on spotify I would play the radio of the artists that I like and then everytime I heard a song I liked, I would add it to my playlist. My taste in music changes with the seasons (summer = jam bands, fall/winter = real county, not bro-country, spring = rock like black keys and KOL) so over time i've built a pretty diverse playlist. If you hear a song you like, you can also search for other playlists that has that song on it and then find music on those playlists.

I have about 400+ songs on my playlist and i'm constantly adding and deleting songs.

Discover Weekly is also pretty badass as it takes the music you've been adding/listening to and tailors a new playlist for you every Monday.
