I know it’s a little morbid but being 64 I’ve settled on Django Reindardt…..maybe some Allman Bros and Skynyrd…..maybe a little Satchmo, Marshal Tucker, some Memphis soul funk, RL Burnside, some sweet ol Detroit R&B and Louis Prima too. For Christian/Gospel...I really like the group 11th Hour, their song, He Welcomes The Beggar is a marvelous song.

Little Martha - Allman Brothers

And when it’s time for them to leave… like they did at the end of their concerts back in the 90s (studio version pre-recorded - so you know no more encores)..

Skynyrd - That Smell at beginning of service for the laughs
Skynyrd - Free Bird (live version 13 min) somewhere in the middle of the service to make everyone sit uncomfortably.
And then whatever my family decides to play..

I’ve waffled between what vibe I’d want. Might go with a jazz funeral (“I’ll Fly Away” or “At the Foot of Canal Street”), could go metal (“Blackbird” by Alter Bridge), indie (“59 Sound” by Gaslight Anthem), classic rock “Blackbird” by The Beatles, “Atlantic City” by Bruce Springsteen, “Fire and Rain” by James Taylor), or emo (“Bring You Back” by Hawthorne Heights, “Helena” by MCR)

For decades I've told my wife 2 songs I want at my funeral are:
Jesus is just alright - Doobie Bros.
Spirit in the Sky - Norman Greenbaum
