Do the Saints trade some of the 5th round picks to move into the 3rd or 4th?

Thoughts? This is what we have left. Knowing the Saints front office, I say it's likely they move up this draft for another day 2 pick.

2 (13)
5 (15)
5 (33)
5 (35)
5 (40)
6 (14)
6 (23)
7 (19)

They would have to likely include future 3 and a couple 5ths to get up into the 3rd

They should trade a few 5s for 4s next year.

I could see them packaging a 5th and next years 4th to get into backend of 3rd round.

Yes but will have to include a pick from next year too to get it done.

If you believe in the value chart, if you package all 4 5th rounders it would equal the last pick of the 3rd. So, you would need to include a future pick which is rarely a good value

Yes, no need to use all 7 of those late picks. Definitely package a move up.

Two 5s and a 6 gets you in the bottom of the 4th. So yes no doubt.

The chart might say that, but supposedly there's a huge drop-off in this draft sometime in the 4th round. Those 5ths this year may not have the same value as they would in another. I don't think they make all 4 5th round picks, and I'd be stunned if we don't make a pick in the 3rd or 4th, but people seem to just so casually assume we can trade at any time and forget that you have to actually have a trade partner to make a trade.

We've done well in the 5th round of drafts. I'd almost rather us just pick dudes with those picks rather than trade up for one 3rd rounder.

Right. More bites at the apple.

You can find players in the 5th. This roster has holes everywhere.

Also, competition is a good thing. You are bringing young, hungry kids in to compete for jobs. That breeds excellence. Take an expensive vets job.

That value makes no sense.

I would take some swings on players that fell, not trade a damn one of them. If you hit on two of those fifths it could pay off big.

Had this discussion with Gyno months ago. A single 5th rounder and a future 3rd, on the value chart, pretty much gets you into the third round.

I have little doubt they’ll make that move if there’s a guy they really like. But I’d prefer not to move anything higher than a future 3rd and some 5ths to do it. I’d really like to keep 2-3 of the 5th round picks. We need bodies.

Yes. We don’t need all seven of those last picks.

I’d love to know what the 14 downvotes think it’ll take to get into the third
