I don't know my feelings on it anymore. I think he'll be serviceable but I'm not sure he's a franchise qb.

Nope. In hindsight, we should have picked Joel Bitonio with our first and John Brown with our third.

ETA: Also trade Jahri Evans for a late fourth/early fifth and use it on CB Bene Benwikere

Its a few years too early.

Do we expect Drew, baring all injuries, to play til the end of his contract? Yes.

That means going into 2017 he will be 38 years old and a FA.

How many more years past that? 2-3?

If so, in the 2017 or 2018 draft, you hope there's a QB that falls (Similar to Rodgers falling) and you take him or a QB that you think has the intangibles, but you can coach up in the 2nd/3rd round similar to Mallett (3rd rounder w/ a late 1st, early 2nd grade) or Garoppolo (2nd rounder).

In theory, with Brees you're no worse than a 7-9 team, so mid-teens and chances are you wouldn't be able to get the #1 overall pick from 15 or so unless you plan on mortgaging your future (Redskins anyone?)

It's fairly moronic to judge off of 5 games of a rookie season

I would have flipped my shite if they would have taken Bridgewater or any QB this year. You don't waste a first round pick on someone who won't see the field for us for at least 4-5 years when you are heavily favored to win the Super Bowl going into the draft.

I still believe Cooks was the right pick. He's in discussion for OROY for fricks sake. People were expecting big plays, myself included, and I know they'll come. He's been an excellent player so far and will only get better.

Maybe if this was the 2016/2017 draft. Until then, QB shouldn't be any of our concern.

I definitely think Drew has at least a couple more seasons where he can put up solid numbers and continue to be the leader of this football team. I definitely think either in the next draft or the one after, the Saints should start thinking about the future. Now, it doesn't necessarily have to be a player from the draft, look at Drew Brees, he was a free agent the Saints signed way back in 2006, and he has gone on to become the greatest player in New Orleans Saints history. So in a couple of years, if there's a promising free agent QB the Saints can bring in to possibly be the future guy, then there's a lot of potential there.

The Indianapolis Colts had to endure one terrible season to be able to draft Andrew Luck, so they were very fortunate to be able to go from one franchise quarterback to another, one who can lead them for years the way Peyton Manning did. If the Saints can have that good fortune of having another franchise QB after Drew, then that will be a blessing for sure. I for one hopes Drew can play another five years, and if he stays healthy, I don't see why that's not possible. GEAUX SAINTS!!

That was well after the draft. I'm talking pre-draft here.

I used to be a staple around these parts but a demanding job and a couple of kids later....

And I’m actually really excited about TB. I think he’s our QB of the future.

Good bump.
He absolutely has the makings of a franchise QB.
