Nazis do opted a ton of old Norse, Prussian and Germanic symbols. (Understandably. They are pretty cool in their own right and Nazis were huge nerds.)
It's been over 80 years. Pretty much all the Nazis that ever lived are dead or in Argentina.
It's okay if some army grunt uses a palm tree and a skull. If he does anything actually bad, punish him for that. Not because some redditor didn't like his patch

This. Some guys rock the Jolly Roger and pirates killed a lot of innocents. Deaths head has been around forever, IDGAF.

In WW2 regular German army (wehrmacht) panzer troops used a skull and crossbones device in their caps and lapels:
Towards the end of the war they started to ditch those collar and cap devices because if they got captured they didn't want people to think that they were SS troops and therefore get treated differently from regular POW's
In the rock video "rag doll" by Aerosmith the lead guitarist Joe Perry has a t-shirt on that has a SS skull on crossbones on it I can't read out what it says around it but I'm sure he was not aware of what he was wearing.

I don't care what the patch is, it's unauthorized. Soldiers are wearing uniforms, not LARPers throwing corny patches on their shite like they're tacticool.
They are called a moral patch. Most SOCOM units have them.
If this hurts your vagina you definitely don’t want to see what my son was wearing on his last trip to Afghanistan.

The swastika was not a sign of hate originally. Hitler took it from the Buddhist religion.
The swastika never stopped being used as a symbol of divinity and spirituality in Indian religions, including Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. From Wikipedia. A girl I dated was Buddhist and her brothers coffin had it on the shroud. Of course I had to ask why

Maybe he got it in Ukraine, your tax money might have paid for it.

No it doesn't. Totenkopf imagery dates back to the 18th Century and Frederick the Great, at least.

Sure it does. I'm not arguing with you on whether or not it "is a Nazi symbol." I agree with you that it's not.
Well, technically there is a Nazi version of the Totenkopf. I posted the original Prussian version of the Totenkopf on page one. The Wehrmacht also used this version of the Totenkopf for the Panzertruppen. The Nazis, specifically the SS designed their own Totenkopf by somewhat changing the shape of the skull and adding a lower jaw, which is missing on traditional versions of the Totenkopf.

I also agree with you that people looking to get offended by stuff suck.
100% agree with you here. This should be a non-story. But we live in a time where people want to be either offended or victims.

20th SF is one of two Green Beret units under the National Guard. They have active duty counterparts but still do all the same stuff.

I have a ring with it somewhere around the house. I wear it occasionally.
My surname is Ashkenazi Jewish. My grandfather's brother took it from an SS officer...against his will.
I can trace one of my lines to the time of the Vinils.
The ring has a few meanings to me. A german/coonass who didn't know of his jewish heritage cut the ring from the hand of a german who falsely claimed his real scandinavian/nordic heritage while simultaneously butchering his more recent ancestors.
In short, frick him... The ring is mine. The symbol is mine. The blood is mine.

Swastikas are all over the tile floor of the Saenger Theater on Canal Street.

Can we stop with this shite? Swastikas have been used by multiple ethnic and religious groups for millennia, including European ones. It wasn’t “taken” from Buddhists.

What does this have to do with anything? They still have to comply with regular Army uniform regs.

oh the horror
instead of all this fanfare and “investigations”
how about we allow the chain of command to operate
his co should tell home to remove that shite from his brain bucket
id be willing to bet that if he had a rainbow patch on his gear he would be applauded by command…
