I have had an account with Chase Bank since the early 90's but today I am over them. I went to cash a US treasury check for a little over 2100. I have had many checks cashed with them and never had an issue till today. I was informed I had to deposit this check and they would not cash it. The teller also stated their would be a 7 day hold on the check. Since Katrina when I was stuck at a hospital for 2 months and could not leave I have not wanted to deposit my whole check with them. I have also had my account compromised 2 times and had to jump thru hoops to get my money back. The teller had the nerve to tell me because of the government shutdown she did not know if the government had money. I asked for my check back but she proceeded to stamp it endorsement denied. I attempted to cash it at WaL-Mart but because she stamped my check they stated they could not cash it, that Chase will do that to force you to deposit it in their bank.I am so mad at Chase, no money for 7 days on a federal check.........I am done with them.

I’ve done mobile deposit on checks bigger than that and had the funds within a few hours.

Which branch were you at?

Chase does suck. Go to a credit union and most will treat you like a paying customer.

20 posts in two years? Damn, Impressive.

Are you expecting a natural disaster?
Is that 2100 the only money you had in the bank?
I don’t understand why you wouldn’t just deposit the check and then make a withdrawal from your checking account if you needed cash on hand to feel comfortable? I think you’re making this harder on yourself than you needed to.

I love chase. Banking is easy with them. And my girl, Ramona, always helps if I need assistance with an account.

Some people are just too dumb to bank.

She doesn't know if the government had money?

Sounds like their cash on hand might be a little ...Tight

USAA, free checking for anyone.

Other products, you’ll have to qualify for either by being in the military, a veteran or having the benefit passed down from your parent(s).

Something doesn’t add up.

Chase doesn’t normally put a hold on a Government check. It’s part of their expedited check policy. You need to ask for the manager. If it’s a co-located mgr ask what branch that person is at and go see them.

What type of account do you have?

Personal? Business? Checking only? Any savings?

I don’t cash checks but I’d think if you had at least 2100 in one of your accounts, they would have cashed it.
