It looks like the PSC has agreed to funding Entergy’s $1.9B infrastructure upgrade. Bills will gradually increase until they top out at $7/month for all customers.

quote:

The Louisiana Public Service Commission on Friday, working on four days' notice, approved Entergy's plan to upgrade its power grid and bill ratepayers for the $1.9 billion project.

The average electric bill for Entergy's 1 million Louisiana customers would go up by 57 cents a month to start, peak at an extra $7 a month in five years and then gradually decrease. WBRZ

This should end the thread. No more appropriate response than this. Sadly.

Technically they will decrease…..20 years from now when the Ida and Laura fees roll off.

Everything else keeps going up in price so entergy might as well join in. Yippee.

And how about them giving you $7 for each hour, per month, that your electricity is off due to rain?

Has Louisiana's PSC ever voted down a rate increase of any sort? It seems they just rubber stamp everything the utility companies throw their way.

Do you realize you're not charged when the power is out??? A house consuming no kWh doesn't meter any electricity usage.

Construction/upgrade costs have tripled in Louisiana for Entergy over the last 10 years.

Here's a fun experiment: Shut off your power for a month and see if you have a $0 bill. Your usage is only part of what you pay. People on this forum have direct experience with this exact issue.

As long as Entergy isn't overloading our grid with monstrous amounts of intermittent renewables, we will be in better shape than most areas of the country. And we still enjoy some of the lowest energy costs in the country.

But if we start buying into installing a bunch of solar and prematurely shutting down old coal and nat gas plants, we're doomed.

A 1.9B project to save 1.2B and we get to pay for it. Talk about a deal

Funny you should mention that. This was on the agenda as well - "Request for certification and approval of the 2022 Solar Portfolio, including eligibility for inclusion in the Company's Geaux Green Option." Luckily, it was deferred.

LPSC AGENDA

Edited to include link to agenda.
