That’s not bad… I can do $7.
That’s not the point. The point is that they already charge for infrastructure maintenance but dont use that money for maintenance. Now, after a hurricane, their old arse grid falls apart and they need more money, never mind the fact that the CEO made $22 million last year.

Do you realize you're not charged when the power is out??? A house consuming no kWh doesn't meter any electricity usage.
Well when my natural gas generator kicks on when there is no power coming in I am consuming/spending money on fuel probably two to three times more than what Entergy charges.
One proposal I sort of liked was Entergy was looking to install massive natural gas generators at stores and places of business as a lease exchange program. The way it would work Entergy needs more power for the grid, your generator kicks on supplying more power to the grid. As a business, you get different lease options to spread the cost of the installation and acquisition of the generator over several years. A meter would monitor the starts for blackouts and grid needs. Entergy would pay for the natural gas used when used as a grid back up like solar power reducing the out of pocket costs to the business owner.

Peej is happy to donate some more money to the CEO’s salary fund.

But if we start buying into installing a bunch of solar and prematurely shutting down old coal and nat gas plants, we're doomed.
I believe 5 new Natural Gas Generation facilities are being built.
Nearly all of the massive solar farms are private equity owned.

If the increase was to put underground lines then sure. Instead this is a money grab since whatever is planned to happen will just get axed.
Few years ago Entergy did something to the gas line and fricked up my yard. So the nicest thing I can say about them is I hope they go under or I wish they could go under.

Sure it will. There will be more increases long before then.

Yeah but you still have the capability of flipping the switch and having power. Therefore you’re required to pay fees for that power up to your off breaker. If you want a $0 bill then call them and have them pull the meter.

Good thing I have SLECA. I have an 1,850 sq ft. house, and my bill is only $50-$55 per month.

$7/month would not cover that conversion.

quote:It looks like Entergy Louisiana only gets 3% of its power from coal right now. It could go away (and likely will shortly) and you wouldn't notice. Almost everyone has gotten rid of them because they are dirty and inefficient.

That’s because of the way the tax credits work. They’re “owned” by JVs with banks that can monetize the credits. They’re really only there to provide capital. The assets are operated by actual energy companies.

Yeah. I have co-op in swla and if people want to complain about an extra 7 bucks a month, they’d have a fricking stroke when they saw my last couple bills.

The only one I’m aware of is Magnolia power plant in Iberville parish but I don’t think that’s Entergy-owned. I believe it’s out of state.
Where are the others? I’m curious.

Does this not include burying lines??? What exactly is Entergy doing to "make the grid more resilient"?
