The greatest in-Parish rivalry in the State is Bogalusa/Franklinton in Washington Parish. The Franklinton folk hate everything Bogalusa with a passion, but they do forego the prices of their local Winn Dixie and do a pickup order at the Bogalusa Walmarks. I tell Mrs. Gee if she has to go to the grocery at the Franklinton Winn Dixie to just get what she absolutely has to have and get out.

The only racist thing I recall about Winn Dixie is that time my grandfather stopped buying Coke products because Bill Cosby was their spokesperson. He then switched to Pepsi, but they did the Michael Jackson commercials. After that, he’d only drink Winn Dixie Check Cola

Maybe they have a competent CEO that only cares about making money for its shareholders. You know that is their job

Gayle Benson is an idiot for renaming Dixie Beer.

Yep. And to call it "Faubourg Brewing Company" was just an attempt to grab something that sounded "New Orleans" based.

Never was a big Dixie drinker, especially after they had that nasty run of beer back in the 80's that tasted like stagnant swamp water.

Shop the sales and you’ll spend about half of what you spend at rouses. Rouses is good for novelty “Louisiana” stuff like local beers, king cakes, spices and sauces. Maybe their produce has a leg up on winn Dixie, but they never have sales, and I’m not going do my full grocery run there just for produce.

Truth be told, Winn Dixie is thriving in some areas. They completed a store renovation at the Navarre Beach, FL location last summer. The store looks fantastic, and their business has at least doubled in since.

Should have paid people to drink that swill back then. It smelled and tasted like it was brewed with "Egg Water" like the natural spring water you find in S. Mississippi along the Gulf Coast area.

I don't know how many people would remember this, but when I was a kid they had a water fountain on the side of Hwy. 90 several miles past the Rigolet's that was fed by a natural spring. That water was pretty cold but smelled like rotten eggs and had an off taste. Seemed like every time we went to the Gulf Coast we'd stop at that damn fountain like it was some sort of shrine.

Also, there was a restaurant on the right hand side near a bridge called "The White Kitchen" that we'd sometimes stop at to eat and my parents acted like it was a must do thing when in that area.

Their prices are high but they tend to have pretty good sales on a lot of items. Let’s not pretend Rouse’d isn’t high as shite when their items aren’t on sale

bullshite. Rouse’s produce section is absolute garbage. WD is 10x the grocery that Rouses is.

I wish my local one would change its name. I suggest Publix or Rouses.

WD is awful. I have one about 1/2 mile from my house and I drive 3.5 miles past it to go to Publix. I would rather buy all my groceries at a Dollar General than use them.

The Beef People my arse. The sole of my boot would be tastier than what they sell.
